Tremec TKO500 vs WCT5 in a 302-345 hp
What difference between a WC T5 for a BD with Ford 302-345 hp and a TKO500....I know that WC-T5 is enough for the torque but I would like to know differences in handling. I'm ordering the BD with WC-T5 but I have time to upgrade.....
Thanks Alfonso |
Spend the extra on the TKO 500 or 600. If you EVER intend to put your car on the track you will be glad you upgraded. The T-5 does not like to be thrashed hard. Second gear will go out with a good day at the track or some hard burnouts.

Hello Alfonso,
Great choice on the Backdraft!!!! Keep us posted on your car and detail on importing to Spain. I have the WC T5 in my car and like it very well. The transmission came with the Pro 5 shifter and shifts very nice. My rear end ratio is the standard 3.10 which should be great for the autobahn and gas prices in Europe. Crusies at 75 mph at 2,000 rpm. We got the car for just cruising and fun, nothing hardcore or racing. Good luck, Letitbe |
Hello Letitbe!
Which engine in your BD? I would like to know dyno, 0-60 mph, max speed, etc of the 302-345 hp with WC-T5 and 3.10 end ratio and differences with TKO 500..... Thanks Alfonso |
Alfonso,
My two cents. My first engine in my BDR was a 351 dyno's at 326 rear wheel HP. It had a T-5. I did not know till I upgraded both my engine and transmission that my old T-5 was from a 6 cylinder Mustang. I always thought that trans mission was the weak link in my system. Well, I had 3 trips to the drag strip, plus 3 open track sessions, with not a bit of trouble. The WC T-5 you ordered will be fine behind a 302 CI engine. |
