BDR Flanged Headers and side pipes
 

OK I know this was posted just before the problems with the site happened and I think it is lost.

Did anyone take Reg or Tony up on the upgrade offer they were going to have? If so how did it work out?

I also remember there was somebody out there that had put on a different exhaust that was less restrictive. I would be interested in knowing if anyone is selling this. I know it will be louder and that is OK with me.

I want my ride to be mean, nasty and loud but without that hole in the exhaust sound it has at the moment :D

I has Rob over at Kieth Craft Motorsports in Plano TX to make my headers and flanged them to the stainless sidepipes. Then I cut the sidepipes off at the end of the collector and ordered new pipes from DR Gas. Then welded a vortech cone in and welde the new pipes to old collector and had the whole assembly ceramic coated. Fairly easy to do and believe me it is loud and best of all no restriction.

I just had the flanges installed on my BDR (got them from Bill at Greater Cincinnati Performance Cars, had Gene's Muffler install them), drove it home last night. Still lots of V8 music but finally no harsh exhaust leak noise. NICE!

For what it is worth, the exhaust shop had to make some major repairs to the right header--one cracked primary tube, ports in the header flange where it mounts to the cylinder head did not line up with the ports in the cylinder head, resulting in leaks and restricted exhaust flow; someone at the factory or at the dealer had made a vertical cut in the flange between the middle cylinders on the right bank for some unknown reason, etc. I'm the original owner of the car but I did not install the engine, and the header was supplied by the local BDR dealer.

I love this car but I've spent most all the time I've owned it fixing stuff that should have been working right from the beginning--replaced the alternator 3 times, had numerous coolant leaks and oil leaks, found gaskets that had been re-used instead of replaced with new, had to drop the tank and fix the fuel level sending unit and replace leaking gasket at the sending unit mount, found a secondary jet just laying in the float bowl, found a lateral positioning spring for the right parking brake assy rear shoe all bent up laying in the park brake drum (which was making a squeaking noise and occasionally giving the car a pretty good "THUNK" noise--the dealer insisted that it was just the backing plate rubbing on the drum/disc assy), dash instruments held on by only one attach knob instead of two, leaky oiil pressure gauge, windshield posts attached to the frame with only two 6 mm bolts on each side; March pully bracket reamed out by hand drill to make it fit, then covered up with large washers, etc., etc., etc.

But man I LOVE this car!

The flanges seem to work pretty nice and weren't too difficult to have installed.

Does anyone have pictures of the old vs. new header setup? I'd be real interested in seeing those.

I bought the flanges like you did from GCP and I have them sitting in a drawer in my garage. One day soon I will follow Bills simple instructions and get this mod done. For now my exhauast is not to bad and can wait but I thought I would get prepared as I know it will only get worse.

Sorry, haven't gotten around to taking pictures yet.

Assuming your headers are in better shape than mine, which wouldn't be hard, it will be a snap when the time comes.

Buckeye, I noticed you have some wrap on your headers? Is that to help with the heat or something else?

Yes, the wrap makes a very noticable heat difference under the hood/foot area. I have been warned that this can cause cracks in the header but had had no issues yet. (fingers crossed)

So I have the flanges, anyone have a good recommendation on a place in Chicagoland to get them installed, north is better?
