Rear ride height adjustment
Hi,
What is the proper way to adjust the rear ride height on a BDR. On my car the driver side rear is quite low and I am getting some tire rub and bottomin out sometimes. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, |
On my BDR you'd remove the left rear tire then place a jack under the brake rotor and jack it up a bit to compress the spring a little. Then using a coil-over adjusting tool (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku) or similar, you can tigthen the slotted nut at the top of the spring a few turns, reinstall the wheel and lower the car, see how it looks, and keep doing this until it looks right. Then I'd take it to a suspension place, get the car scaled and ride height properly adjusted, and aligned.
Good luck! |
Hi Sledge,
Do I understand you correctly that I should turn the adjusting nut clockwise (tighten) to raise the ride height. The adjusting nut rest at the top on the rear Wheels and bottom on the front wheels, correct? Thanks for the Help, |
Yes. Did you get the Backdraft Assembly Manual? I admit the photos in the manual to not have an arrow pointing at the adjusting nuts, but you have it correct. And I meant remove the left rear wheel, not tire, in my first response.
I'd try 5 full turns just to make sure the ride height is moving in the correct direction, then tune it from there. At least, that worked for me. |
Thanks Sledge,
I'll give it a try this week and let you know. |
