BDR 354 is here!

My BDR finally arrived last Friday. As soon as I heard it fired up for the first time and pulled off the trailer I could hardly contain myself! I have never had so much fun in my life! All the hooting and haulering from people as I drove down the road was a ton of fun. Car looks and sounds perfect. I am trying to put some miles on it before I really drop the hammer. It sure is hard to refrain.
It looks like I may have two things to sort out though. I drove it in traffic at about 90F outside and the temp got up around 95C. Sounded like the fans turned on about 80C. When I got home I checked it for coolant again and it looks like there is just water in the radiator. I also checked to see that fans are blowing the right direction and checked the hoses for kinks. I think there is no thermostate in the engine because when it's cold, its still moving water through the engine even when a thermostat should be closed. I am going to put a thermostate in tomorrow because I have a feeling that the water is flowing through the radiator so fast that its not actually getting a chance to cool.
Also thought I heard a brake slightly hanging up for a little bit but then it was gone and I have not heard it since.
Some great surprises I found with the car is that it has flanged headers already. The brake lines to the master cylinder are routed through the fenders and not in the engine compartment which I thought was neat.
Oh, and I got it registered as a 65 with Washington State DOL before the car even arrived! What a deal!
The car drives perfect. It is everything that I had dreamed of! Thanks BDR!

Mark,
Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like a great ride. These are a real "smile" machine. I am accused of having a "sh$t eating grin" everytime I crank her up.
You might want to check that there are no air pockets in your block. A tip I've picked up here is to drill 1 or 2 small holes in your thermostat to help bleed the system of air.
Enjoy,
John

You brake hanging up was probably your emergency brake. They are inside your rear disc brake rotor and are identicle to the old drum brakes they used to put on cars. Let it hang up a little, it will wear away soon enough, remember the emergency brakes never wear out unless you forget to take them off so it you wear a little away do not worry about it. Congratulations, codene helps you sleep that first couple of weeks Hahahaha

Not many things can beat driving a Cobra. Welcome to the BDR family.

FYI...keep the rpms around 3000 and then change your oil at 500 miles but leave the filter until your next oil change. Make sure you have a rev chip in your 6al. I started at 6000 and then went to 6400. Then take er out and get into 3rd at about 2500 rpm and drop that hammer you were talking about. If all is well then let it rip to your ability and enjoy.

Ok, I have been on a ton of different forums and have always been able to attach pics or files. But I can't figure out how to do it on here. Shouldnt there be an "attachment/Browse folder icon" for me to link a picture in my replys to the thread? Can someone give me some help as to how to attach a picture. Thanks

Mark Brye 05-26-2006 06:49 PM

Just figured out how to post picture but now I need to figure out how to shrink my pictures because they are taking up to much space for download. I will post them when I get this all figured out.

Hi Mark,

I picked up BDR#228 a couple of weeks ago and the grin from ear to ear just won't go away. I'm sure that it is the same for anyone with ther "DREAM CAR". Enjoy your Cobra!!!

We can't wait to see pics of your car.

If you have MicroSoft Photo Editor you can "resize" your pics to any size you want. I suggest you convert the pics to ".BMP's" with MS Photo Editor, since you will not lose any resolution like with ".JPEG's". Once you have the correct size save the pics to ".JPEG's". Then post them to a site like "Photobucket.com" by registering for a free account and creating an album there.

You can bring a pic here to ClubCobra directly into your posts by copying the "Img" (not the Url or Tag) listing under you pic in your Photobucket album.

Cheers!
Dave

I have shrank some pictures down but am having the problem again where the reply does not allow me to attach a picture. I will have to try again later I guess.
