Brake/taillight problem and yellow dash light
I have a situation where one brake light works and the other tail light goes out when the brake is depressed or something like that. Also yellow light on dash lights intermittantly. Can anyone give me a pointer on this stuff?

Paul,
I had exactly the same problem. The light that goes out has a ground problem. Check for a broken wire between the light housing to the car frame. Paul |
Paul,
The yellow light on the dash is probably the fan indicator light. With the fan dash toggle switch in the "automatic" position, the fans come on as you need them. The tailight MAY also be as simple as a loose bulb in the socket. If you bought the car "used", contact one of the Backdraft dealers for a manual. It's not the greatest, but should help you on a lot of stuff. Good luck! Cheers! Dave |
Paul,
Sometimes the tail light housing contacts move. I have two like this. You may need to take off the light assembly and turn the contacts so that the contacts on the bulb with mate up the the contacts on the tail light housing. Bill |
It's a very common problem to have loose bulbs on the BDR due to the very cheap sockets they use.
For me the fix was to re-inforce the bulb housing with a bondo style product made for plastic Left is with the filler right is stock. http://feakes.homeip.net/house/Cobra...s/IMG_0603.JPG But in the end, I changed the bulbs for LED's since they are far brighter and don't get hot and melt the plastic like hi-wattage bulbs would. http://feakes.homeip.net/house/Cobra...s/IMG_0606.JPG http://feakes.homeip.net/house/Cobra...s/IMG_0614.JPG http://feakes.homeip.net/house/Cobra...s/IMG_0697.JPG |
Led Lights
I Tried The Led Bulbs From Auto Zone But The Brake Lights Would Not Light Brighter When The Brakes Were Applied. Do You Have A Bulb # For The Type You Used?
Thanks, |
LED bulbs (the style from auto shops) are complete crap, you are better off using a candle. You need the LED clusters, a LOT more expensive, but therer is a reason for that.
I used the hardwire 1.85" LED cluster from these guys. http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_led_bulbs.htm |
Rear turn signal
My brake lights do not seem to work at all. Did you use the Led W/ turnsignal setup on those? Also which of the bulbs is tail light and which one is tail/brake? Top or bottom?

Paul-
Your brake light problem may be the cheesy underdash brake light switch that BDR uses. I had a lot of trouble with mine, so I replaced it with a hydraulic pressure switch in the brake line. |
