Ok guys, in simple terms can I use the dot 4 fluid in both brake and clutch after draining present fluid and not worry about residual fluid left behind?

Also, has anyone thought to use a hose shaped insulation as a heat barrier for the hydraulic fluid lines around the headers?

Well..... I don't know. I did the opposite. I changed to DOT 3 in both systems.

There is a lot less fluid in the clutch system so a flush should be easier. But again I would flush the system with a lot of fluid so as to get all the old fluid out. Since the clutch system is so small you could remove both the slave and master an clean by hand.

I do use hose shaped insulation on both the brakes and clutch line.

JayBar, what insulation did you use and where did you get it?

I am looking at a few options on Summit but would like to hear what worked for you.

Summit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

On the clutch I re-routed the clutch line to run back from the master a long the top of the foot box then down the fire wall. I used a rubber type material hydraulic line (made up at NAPA). Then slid one of the above insulator sleeves over it.
