BLACK paint on BDR

greetings,

I have BDR #123, which is black with silver stripes. When I bought it from David, he did not have any spare black or silver paint. Does anyone have the same color selection around that approximate build number?

I would like to get those colors for some touch-ups. Can anyone provide the names or "model numbers" of those paints so I can order them?

cheers,

Joe

Joe,
Call Reg Dodd in Florida. Backdraft = 561-752-3693. Reg's cell: 954- 520-2030.
I have a British Racing Green BDR with silver stripes. They told me the silver is PPG basecoat.

Hope that helps.
Hank

Joe,

Hank gave you the right idea. My car is black (build #90) but I know they were changing paint suppliers around the time my car was built. So, I am not sure knowing my paint codes would help much. Someone at Backdraft must have the paint brand and codes used on your car. Keep in mind that the paint used in South Africa is possibly different than what is available in the US. But there should be an equivalent available.

skipb,
we are building your and everyones else suggestion with the black Backdraft. Should be some nice items on it as well. Engine not 100% but either a 402IR or 427IR.

I have build 128 but in Indigo Blue. You might send off a note to Tony in SA. They told me the paint was PPG Global which is different from domestic PPG. I went to an auto paint store and he knew what I was talking about and said it was expensive....My Indigo blue is a GM color from 2000 pickups....

Flybynav1965,

You might do a search on this site for the paint color. Tony Martin has responded to several similar queries.

For "Sledge" with #168, he responded: Sikkens Q240 as the blac paint.

Joe,

My car was painted in PPG Global as well (#90). It should be available at a PPG auto paint store in Tucson. If not they should be able to either order it for you or find a PPG dealer that is stocking Global. Look in the yellow pages under auto paint and see if you can find a PPG store that is marked as Platinum. They carry pretty much the whole line.

Still, I think an e-mail to Tony Martin at Backdraft will also help in getting the Global paint code which will help the paint store get the right formula to mix your paint.

Hey Joe
If you find a paint code, Finishmaster can probably mix some for you. Not sure what the smallest amount they mix is but check with them to see.
They are on the SE quad of Grant & Stone. 882-8288 is their number.
