Club Cobra - steering column

Can someone tell me how to remove the steering wheel, I can't get the center cap off. Also can you tell me how to tighten the column assembly just below the steering whell it seems there is alot of play in it and it is squeaking.

Here a wheel puller i made out of .250 thick steel 3.250 dia with a .375 fine thread bolt 4.00 long just transfered hole patter off wheel works great I work in a machineshop but you can make one with a little work and a saw
the steering wheel is held on with 6 flat head allen screws remove this to take wheel off make sure the aircraft nut on hub is tight. to remove hub to get to turn singals remove nut and use puller

The center cap on mine was held on by three pices of two sided foam tape. It took awhile but I slipped a thin pocketknife under the cap and kept working it back and forth until I could get some movement. Just go slow and take your time, you'll get it.
As far as the column assembly, there is a muffler type clamp up under the dash that the column passes through that I suspect is loose. The plug that connects the blinkers to the dash wiring was folded up and wire tied to the clamp on mine, so it may be hard to recognize at first. The clamp is welded to the dash farme that runs under the dash. Theres also a clamp type holder in the engine compartment that has two set screws that could be tightened up too. Thats in clear view so it shouldn't be hard to find.

Just as an afterthought, there are two, I don't want to say bearings in the sense of metal type but more like corrugated black cardboard that has little steel balls that act as bearings inside the outer column. They could be bad or disentigrating so look at that as well.

In our area Autozone will loan tools. I used their steering wheel puller on my BDR. If i remember correctly I had to buy some longer metric bolts to reach into the hub.
