Fuel pump wiring diagram
Help,
I am going to wire an inertia cut off switch for the fuel pump, into my electrical system. I was just going to mount it in the trunk and splice it into the electrical line as it enters the fuel pump. Then I realized I should splice it in somewhere up stream before the fuel pump relay, if there is such a thing. Well page 26 of the assembly manual is compleatly un-readable. Can someone send me a clear view of that diagram?

Thanks, that tells me most of what I wanted to know. It seems there is no relay for the fuel pump. That means the line to the pump protected by a 25 amp fuse is carrying a strong current. I don't think the enirtia switch I got from Ford is ment to carry that type of current. Any suggustions on the type of relay I need to get. It would have to be the type that stays closed (letting current through) until the low amperage current to the other side of the relay is interrupted. Like in the case of an accident. Then the inertia cut off switch will open stop flowing low amp curent to the relay. The relay would open an stop current to the fuel pump.
So that is what I think I need but what do I ask for at NAPA.

go with a mechanical fuel pump!!!! No noise, no priming issues, it the engine stops running it stop pumping. You could wire your own relay in.

Well I could change the front of my engine to so I would have a place to mount the fuel pump. Then change my feed lines from the tank to the pump. Then change my carb feed lines to feed from the front not the rear.
Yea, that would be worth it!!

yea it is a pain, not only that, the camshaft may not have the extended nip to drive the fuel pump eccentric. I just loathed the noise my electric fuel pump made and if you let it sit a couple of weeks with less than 1/4tank it would loose its prime.

Ok,
Here is what I came up with. I have a Holley "Blue" pump, Holley says it pulls 3 amps. So since that is such a small power draw I deceided to go without a relay.
I pulled the ground wire off the fuel pump (I had installed quick release connections so I could change the pump on the side of the road if necessary) then taped into it and ran a wire into the trunk. I zip tied the inertia cut off to the roll bar and ran the ground wire to it then from the switch to ground. Works fine. If something screws up I can go to the pump and plug in the ground wire there, and I am good to go.
