Picked up 419monday
Finally got my baby after long wait.Went for couple rides with plate from my truck on back.Whoops! Will have to go down to DMV to get it registered I guess. The thing really rips with the Roush 402,but can't wait till I get 500 miles on it and do an oil change before I really get on it.Already burned my leg on sidepipes, the price of fun I guess.

Might as well get used to it. I manage to burn, cut, bruise, or otherwise inflict bodily harm upon myself about every third time I drive or work on my BDR. Yep I'm clumsy and a slow learner. But the fun far outweighs the pain. No way I'd stop driving/fixing this car! The 500 miles will go quick--enjoy! (Start budgeting for rear tires). Cheers |
Congrats on the car. I'm still undecided on going with the 342R or the 402R.
This is my first Cobra and dont want to overpower the car but also dont want regret not going with the extra power. Best of luck with the new beast. Peter |
Peter,
Go with the 402R, it is very little in price difference and you will have a higher resale. Get what you want and you'll be a lot happier. Bill |
Go with the 402.More power the better. But I know everyone has a budget to work with.My goal was 500 hp/trq.The full polish motor and chrome acces.sure look nice when the hood is up.

Congratulations, hawaiicobra!
Do you know Excaliber (aka Ernie & Slick) ? He's from Hawaii too, but maybe a different island (planet) than you. Cheers! Dave |
Peters44,
I had planned on the Roush 342 and Olthoff's SR cam spec. It turned out that the Dart block for the 342 was delayed, so with an eye on the calendar and the temperatures I switched to the 402 with the SR and took delivery in very early October. I am glad I did. The motor has a nice lope and I have not had any regrets. Chilibit |
402SR might be the way to go. I'm waiting on a callback from Roush on details of the SR etc.

Peters44,
I suspect that you would be very happy with either motor. 65 Hp and 80 TQ weighed against better gas mpg. If you drive a lot of miles in the car go with the 342R. If you don't, and REALLY want to light off the tires at any time go with the 402R. But as Dennis Miller says", that's just my opinion. Have fun with whatever you decide. :) Cheers! Dave |
Thanks for the input. I have some dreaded time before I have to make the final decision.
