The problem with the illuminated buttons is they stay lit, and it is quite annoying when you are driving around in lowlight or night.
|
Thanks for the info. I like this better than my current button from a S2000 Honda.
Could a diode be used to dim the illumination some? John |
To dim the light a resistor needs to be put in, to make the illumination adjustable a rheostat (or potentiometer) needs to be used.
|
Why not tie the light into the other dash lights?
|
John,
I would also like to put a push button start in my car. Just curious, but what do you like about the illuminated switch shown on the previous pics as compared to the S2000 button? |
Archrms,
I like the illmination feature and the color choices. The S2000 button is a very bright red and really stands out. I'm not sure if I'd switch it out, just nice to have another option in case I want to tinker with something. John |
John,
Thanks for the info. I've been looking into it for a while now, and there doesn't seem to be as many choices out there as I thought there would be. Always good to hear from someone who's already got one. Thanks. |
Archrms,
Check out this link from a Miata web site for more info. Has good install info. http://www.miata.net/garage/pushstart/ John |
Thanks for the link. I'll have to make some time this weekend to read the whole thing.

Picked up my new start button monday from Vintage. Look's so much better than the old one. A small price for a nice look.

Start Button
Picked up a fairly non-descript 50 Amp start button from Haywire for $15.00 as shown at the attached link.

We have been using these for a while, you can get them at www.cobraaccessories.com I think they are $19 plus shipping. They add a nice touch to the dash. Real simple to install.

The Finishline product is ok. We did it on #188 and then started using it again recently quite often. I just found another option that looks pretty good. I will have to try it out and see how it looks ... any takers???
BTW the Genesis 496 is a sight to behold ;) |
Ford GT Start Button
So I was at the ford parts counter today waiting to receive a part that I was going to be overcharged on. I noticed a GT poster on the wall and one of the sub photos had the engine start button. Looked to be 1" diameter button with a nice aluminum bessel. I inquired about the price thinking $50 to $75 for the button. I was way off!! actual cost is $249. - it didn't look that nice :)
