Exhaust Heat Shield Mounting poll
This may sound like a silly question but here goes.... So I'm installing the ring mounts that clamp onto the exhaust, these rings hold the exhaust heat shields in place. They can go on two ways. How are yours mounted? One way the clamping bolts on the ring are on the bottom of the pipe. Flip the ring around and the bolt then sits between the body an the pipe. I the first case you see the bolts walking up to the car, the second way you see the bolts as you get in and out of the car. I can't decide and currently have one side bolts in and the other bolts down to see what I notice more.
Where are yours located? In or Down

My clamps are in between the car and the pipe with the bolt vertical down to the ground if that makes sence.

My clamps and shields are in the attic. I can't seem them walking up to the car or getting out of it....:LOL:

Wrong heat shield Dino.....It's the ones on the sidepipes!
Is that a factory heater you've got?

I don't have my car yet and have really never looked closely at the pipes on a BDR. I do have a couple of comments, however. NORMALLY bolts are installed "heads up," this was if the nut loosens and falls off, the bolt still provides SOME security. Of course on a BDR (or any other Cobra) installing the bolts this way may interfere and rub on the body...Like I said, I have not looked closely enough to tell.

I can't understand why anybody would not install their side pipe shields that came with the car. I NEVER had a problem with anyone receiving a "snake bite" from my side pipes. I could run down the interstate, pull over and put my hands on the shields without getting burned. IMHO

Exhaust heat shield.
Heat shields are practical for lessening the degree of burnt leg! BUT I will make up some or borrow from a friend, go through the certification process, warrant of fitness process, and off they come!
The best way to have them in my opinion is not on the car!

How about the fact that the heat shields are ugly! Mine have never been on the car, and never will be while I own it. I will give them to the new owner if I ever sell my car. He/she may want them. I personally in over 3 years of owning the car have never been burned by the sidepipes. I step over them and instruct my passengers to do the same. Very simple process.

that's it!! only a few people have even looked at there bolts. And then there are the ones itching for a hicky mark on their leg (to each there own but I need the safety)

You will still burn your leg with the guards on if you touch them where they clamp to the pipe's. Mine clamp to the pipes right where you get out of the car. My daughter has been the only one to burn her leg in the 4 years I have had the car. It would have been alot worse without them.
The people that don't like the look of them don't have to look at them long since they can't keep up with my car.:D
