bought a back-draft
Hey---just bought ChuckG's backdraft...my first cobra and a beautiful one at that--only 1400 miles and beautifully maintained. Stock Ford racing 351 crate motor and 17" wheels with the drag radials. While this may seem strange, I'd like to swap the wheels for the 15" halibrand style...so when delivered Sunday, I'll start sniffing around on the best way. If you're interested, drop me a line. Should be great. Tom

Congrats. I was so close to buying that car! It is really a beautiful car and it is good to see you get it out of VT before the snow starts to fly.
I just bought one this week as well. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Welcome to the Backdraft family! I've had mine a little over 2 months now. You won't believe how much attention you get on every outing (even in car-jaded Southern California)! The pedal positioning takes some getting used to, but the Cobra ownership experience is like no other!
I've got the exact opposite problem as you... I've got the 15" wheels & tires, but want the 17's. Go figure.
and Cowboy... I must have the little brother to your engine. Mine made almost the same hp/tq (612/615) at inception... probably makes a little less now with a more streetable carb. Still... am making 450+ hp/tq at the wheels, so loss was minimal.
Enjoy the ride... I know how you feel!

Mine is Backdraft#488 titanium with a ghost stripe Roush 402. If you go to Vintage motor sports site they have all the build pictures. My first cobra also.
What a blast cant say enough about the car. If you have any questions about your car Jay at Vintage is a great source.

What color did you order? Who is going to do your engine? Can't wait to see yours at the grease-up. Congratulations.

Those polished wheels are very nice... I have lot's of pictures of that car if you would like them as it passed through my hands early in its life.

I'm just getting my feet wet and I'll learn along the way. I'm not a wrench but can do easy stuff and will work to the harder over time...I know the drill and will pay my dues. I sure would like to find an online parts manual like I have on all my rc helicopters. They're highly engineered and those exploded diagrams tell the story. If there is such a thing...let me know.
But I really don't have a great idea on who to have tune this car. I'm looking at G&M Garage in Millis (5 miles away). They have a beautiful FFR they built and a really nice job on the motor. Then I was also thinking of using Wheel works in Natick to do the 3M paint protection film. And last I'm looking for an exhaust builder to piece together a vette like side pipe for around the neighborhood. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on these things?
Thanks...and see you around. Tom

Larry,
It is #575. Sterling Gary with lighter silver stripes. Reg is doing the engine. 351w. I figure I can get my feet wet with that engine before going for the Roush 427 or 402. Should be here in a week or two.
