Right Turn Signal Working Intermittently
I have BDR 186 and the right turn signal started working intermittently. I changed out bulbs and the relay but it didn’t fix the problem – left flashes normal and right is a hit and miss. The turn signal assembly is not the greatest in the world and wouldn’t be surprised if that is my problem. Any thoughts or has anyone had to change out the turn signal assembly?
Thanks Rod |
Turn signals are designed to work intermittenly
Now if it doesn't work, or stays on all the time===== Check for proper grounding---fiberglas cars and boats--- Jerry |
Turn signals on a boat????

All right, you got me on the intermittently. Let me rephrase this - sometimes the right turn signal works….sometimes it doesn’t. I will check for grounding. Thanks

I was told that the turn signals on build #139 were Volkswagen, and that they are dialed-in by some set-screw-thing.
Mine have never worked properly from Day One. I'll be watching this thread, I'm tired of getting busted by local PD and state HP. UT |
my rh signal has never worked consistantly either, more not, than working...I don't believe relays, bulbs, or grounds are the problem. Both sides would be likely affected. I believe it's something in the mechanism in the wheel, that I haven't gotten around to fooling with yet. Several times have come very close to getting creamed while making a turn...and have received an extreme amount of hand gestures and cussing out. (Can't blame them!) With the tiny wheel in these, you need both hands on it to make a tight turn.

Had the same problem when I had the wife check my lites while I was in the car. She said now it is working, now it is not, now it is, now it is not. jeesh..

Rod,
I've had a similar issue, but with quite a bit of track time scheduled, I haven't had much time to focus on things lower on the priority list, up until this morning. I removed the steering wheel and hub, then then turn signal assy, unplugging it from behind the dash. After ohming out the assy, a found no continuity between the input wire and right turn wire when activated. With the assy in my lap, from the back there is a large snap ring that holds everything together. After dissassmebly, I found a fair amount of dirt ( alum shaving dust and some kind of antiseize) on the electrical contacts and inside the whole assy. After cleaning everything with WD40 and a clean rag, reassemling all the bits, and Viola. She works like brand new. It's all really simple in there, and it wouldn't take much fpor it to not work at all. Hope this helps, Richard |
