Color Selection Help
BDR dudes,
I am in the process of getting my BDR spec'd out and only one thing remains...color. I have decided on a shade of blue with wimbledon white stripes. However, I need to see a couple of really GOOD outdoor pictures of the following colors to make a decision. Looking for stunning pictures of.... Indi Blue Sonic Blue Viper Blue Speedway is a little to light for my tastes and indi may seem a little to dark. Thanks in advance!! |
Chuckster
I have a Viper Blue BDR and one pic in my gallery. I will try to email you a couple more. Regards, John |
Indigo Blue. Go onto the Superformance website and look at their indigo blue 427 with Wimbledon stripes. Georgeous.

There is an Avis blue BDR on ebay that looks good

As you are about to spend at least fifty g's on your Cobra, it wouldn't be too crazy to get some touch-up paint of your favorite blue shades and paint a few scale model Cobras (or diecasts) with stripes. Then you yourself can decide what you prefer. It might be better than second-guessing yourself later. Photos depicting colors can be misleading. Good luck.

If you are looking at Summer 2009 you have plenty of time to find a blue in person. Photos will never get the true color across and just confuse it more. By then we should have some other blues to choose from as well.

ERA Chas,
Probably one of the best Cobra photos I have ever seen. The car, the angle, the color, etc. Beautiful! Skip B |
Keep 'em coming
Thanks folks. Since I have a year before I plop down the $, I am just gathering information and am much appreciative of all the pictures. I agree that I need to see some colors in person and plan to attend the LCS to nail it down further.
Keep the posts and pictures coming! The more shades of blue I see, the better I will understand the landscape. Many thanks Chuckster |

Many types and shades of blue are available. I just bought a used FFR Cobra that is painted Atlantic Blue Ford # M6863A and white stripe GM Classic White # 10. My wife and I love it and have had many positive comments from Cobra club members in my area. It stands out in a line of blue Cobras as a brighter blue. I will next attempt to attach a photo in my next post since I have never done this before.

I made the file much smaller to be accepted by the site. I hope it can be seen OK. If you want to see a better copy just PM me.

I started with the "Get a couple of cans of touch up paint method....". That got me from red or blue to blue.
What I ended up doing was going to a cobra show and looking at about 20 cars in 15 different colors. Once I narrowed it down to dark blue, I looked at cars on the road until I found exactly what I wanted. I was surprised at what a difference the lighting makes on how a color looks. I ended up with Scion Nautical Blue. Which was the "Truest" blue I could find, no purple, green, etc. Good luck! Jon |
