High Temperature
 
Hi,
during my street trips, especially when I'm in the traffic, the engine temperature is always near 100 and sometimes goes to 120-125.

Actually the outside temperature where I live is about 32C (88F) and I always drive with manual fan switched on.

I'm newbie and so I would like to better understand what are the recommended and maximum limits for temperatures (oil and water) and oil pressure.

Paolo,

You WANT to have your oil around 100C to "boil" off any water moisture that it may obtain. 120-125C is high but not outside of oil capabilities.

Water temp is more what type of pressure can your hoses take before they leak or blow off, but as far a temp again 120-125C is OK.

Oil pressure is dependent on the oil temp, it should be high when cold and lower when hot. But always remain above ~40PSI or ~3 BAR and below ~90PSI or ~5.5 BAR. IMO

this would probably get a better response in the "all cobra talk" or engine area as it is not a BDR specific question.

Actually water temp can be quite high....if you run enough antifreeze...no problem....just don't let it boil....If your water temp is over 230 F....I would start looking for a way to run it a bit cooler....something could be wrong...

I had issues keeping 181 cool at low speeds and at stop lights. I upgraded the electric fans and the issue went away. If you water temps are getting over 100c while stopped, then you should address it.

BTW 120c=248F. A little bit hotter then the average street driven Cobra should be. IMHO

thanks Gatorac to highlight me your previous post on the same issue.

seems that the solution is to change the standard fans.

I've to ask Jay that know my car if will be better the dual Spal fan or the new single one that came from the Backdraft.

125C = 257F. In my opinion that is getting too hot. Water at 15psi (a typical rating for a radiator cap) boils at 120C so you're right on the edge of of boiling. If it were mine, I'd try and find a way of getting it to run cooler.

Harmonic vibration
 
Now that the B F Goodrich Radials have been properly balanced, ( which required being balanced ON THE CAR by a very talented specialist) , I am noticing a very pronounced harmonic vibration. I suspect the drive shaft, but would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a similar problem. It occurs at all speeds and any gear and coasting in neutral, but is most noticible in 5th and cruising.

If you vibrate while coasting in neutral, you can rule out the driveshaft (or driveline), as you have taken the loading from both. I would be looking at the last thing I adjusted before the problem...tire balancing? :)

All speeds? Even at 10 MPH? If you are at a light, and you rev the engine does it happen? I would agree with above post, it's got to be the wheels.

I've followed the procedure to bleed the cooling system and now all seems to work fine. With the fans on, the temp never goes up to 95C.
