BDR 31 for sale
Hi guys. I have my car listed on this site (http://www.clubcobra.com/classifieds...ct=618&cat=all) as well as Cobra Country (search for "Backdraft 427SC Cobra, chassis #31."). Started asking 39-ish, down to 35. I know the market's soft but boy is it hard to sell one of these. Is no one interested in a low mile, clean, well maintained BDR. Granted it's a low power car - relatively speaking - it has a carb'd 302 so I'd put it at right around 300hp. but in these cars that is enough to kill yourself. Any suggestions? Anyone know somebody looking? Vintage or any of you dealers take used cars on consignment? I dont want to give it away, just want something with a roof that is safer at the track. debated welding a cage into this but dont want to ruin the car.

Good luck, Brudda. I had #139 listed on Craig's List Dallas and Craig's list OKC along with an Ebay twice in the past year.
Maybe I will keep it and be buried in it. Yeah, selling this kinda car in this market is... frustrating. |
Ray,
I sent you an email with some suggestions. I think you can make some small changes and get a big impact. But the market is challenging now, especially the used end. |
I've gotten emails from atleast 2 people in the last week asking about your car. At $34k there is interest. Have you sold it yet?

No I haven't. lots of inquiries, sent out lots of info and pics but no one's come up with any $. Want to PM me their info?
|
I have it listed on cobracountry.com for 34k. just realized I never updated the listing here from 36k, so I just changed it. 34k is the ask price.

Ray,
Are you looking to get into a new BDR or out totally? Maybe we can swing a trade/swap deal. Both guys that emailed me wanted to have a top put on and some other items. |
Ray,
I have add a few bars to my car for some added safety at the track. Had the whole thing powder coated and back in the car for 700. I my opinion the car isn't ruined by any means and looks good with the powder coating. I had a second loop, side bars and a cross bar that attaches the two loops. With a high back seat this is much safer for HPDE events. Send a PM if you are interested in pics...Mac |
Jay, I dont know. I'm really taken with the concept of the TD cars, but I dont get to drive mine much as it is, so it's kind of a waste. My plan was to get a street car that I can also track, like a late model 'stang or dare I say a C5z06 vette. I'm on the fence.

The most economical way to get a street/track car is to follow Mac's lead and work with what you have. You are giving up money selling it at that price and will then have quite a bit more investment on the others.

Ray,
Sent you a PM. - Tim |
Everyone trying to sell one of these things need to relax, the market is still down 42%!!!!! Layoff's are still taking place. If at all possible keep an active add and wait it out a year. You will NEVER own a car with the same experience as a cobra. I know I tried it, sold my bdr, got a miata, loved it for 2 months, then it became a dailey driver that was hard to get in and out of everyday. Now I am back into a cobra, drive it for 30 mintues have my fill and put it away until next time.
There is still a huge market with alot of dreamers. I learned in 1999 to not follow the masses and watch those stupid schwabb cartoons. I feel once people get back on their feet, they will feel better about having something tangible, a car, a rolex etc than a monthly statement watching their money evaporate. I am 99% sure you BDR did not drop 42% since you bought and it sure and depreciating anymore. |
roll bar pics
