engine upgrade
I have a 351 windsor, i am planning on converting it to a 408 with a stroker kit. Has anyone out there done this mod? Should i be aware of any issues that may arise, especially overheating?
Thanks, Bob |
Bob,
You may want to repost this in the SB engine section. I am sure it will get more visability and more responses. Good luck |
Lots of guys have done that, common as water. Do it..

He's right. It's a very common conversion. Don't be afraid to do it.
The only thing you really need to check is oil pan clearance. Depending on the parts used, there can be a small interferance problem with the #8 rod and a Canton pan. It's not much, only about 1/8" or so. After you get all the pistons installed, put the pan on without a gasket. Spin the crank a couple of times. If it hits, just make a small adjustment with a hammer. |
Just a small clarification to the above .....
When making the adjustment with the hammer ... adjust the pan not the crank:3DSMILE: One option will work .... the other option ..... won't **) and a final clarification to the clarification .... make sure you don't crease the pan or have a tight fold when the metal could develop a fatigue crack. |
