New Slave Cylinder and Bracket for BDR and SPF
I came up with a different design on the Backdraft slave cylinder and bracket. I have made plenty of these, I will sell the bracket and slave cylinder for $110.00 . This bracket allows you to align the slave cylinder perfectly, which gives you the most push from you slave cylinder. This will fit a Spf, BDR, and just about any cars using either a Quick time bellhousing or a standard motorsport bell housing. I have not installed on a Mcleod or Lakewood bell housings. The heat shield is for the clutch master cylinder. My setup is for Backdraft and Superformance cars that have another type of slave cylinder setup that doesn't perform the way as designed. To answer your question, you would have to relocate your clutch hyd, lines up and over the footbox. Add the heat shield for the clutch master cylinder. This should solve your clutch fluid issues, but you still should replace the fluid and a routine basis. Bill |
Excellent work Bill!! My slave cylinder to clutch arm is not perpindicular as it should be and as it appears your bracket will make it. My slave cylinder has not failed yet. I have tried to adjust with the stock bracket but there simply is not enough adjustment to get it, and to get enough adjustment the bracket would have to be thicker.
A little bewildering to be honest with you why some can get it right and others cannot as my buddy always says' "its not like we are going to the moon". Once mine fails I will be giving you a call. |
Thanks Madmaxx, this is my second round of the bracket. I must have changed different clutch fork manufacturers because it came up short on the present type of clutch fork. With the newer style, it adjust to different lengths of clutch forks. This does work very well with the superformance cobras as well. Most likely any other cobras using a quick time bellhousing, or Tremec transmission bellhousings

It looks like your bracket bolts in using the existing Trans to bell housing bolts, and since it mounts on the trans side I would think it doesn't matter what bell housing is on the other side of the transmission. The slave must be a pusher mounted on that side of the yoke, but what kind is it? I am not trying to beat you out of a sale but just would like to know from a replacement point of view. |
Bill, that is a really nice piece. I was wondering when someone was going to make a nice piece that mounts to the tranny using a push type slave. I'd like to get a couple of them and give them a try. I'd like to put one on my car too.

Slave cylinder travel distance
Bill, the new bracket looks great. I assume this setup requires the use of the longer clutch arm that pivots on the passanger side (inside the bellhousing) becuase the pusher slave is pushing toward the front of the car to disengage the clutch, right? I believe this set up requires more clutch arm throw. I have about 7/8" at the arm tip and I need a little more.
Secondly, I am looking for more slave cylinder travel. What is the throw in the ford pickup truck slave cylinder? What diameter clutch master cylinder are you using? |

This clutch slave cylinder will throw at least 1 inch. But I will have to confirm this on Monday. I'm the only one at the shop this morning. In the backdraft's slave cylinders, we use .750 dia. bore. the slave cylinder is also a .750 bore. One thing to make sure that your pivot pin is adjusted more toward the clutch plate. If you have too much gap there, it will be very difficult to get proper throw on your slave cylinder. Bill |
