oil cooler

I am going to install an oil cooler on my bdr. My only question is what is the correct way to mount the cooler itself onto the car? thanks for the help.

Go to Finsihline

Get their oil cooler and shroud, when you order tell them it is for a Backdraft, they make a shroud especially for our cars, the others will not fit.

Then mount it but do not hook it up. (run dummy lines) Unless you are pushing over 500RWHP and track the car in 100 degree temps you don't need it.
If you ignore my advise and hook it up be careful in temps under 80 degrees as the oil will not get hot enough to burn off moisture that accumulates in the crank case.

So best advise, if you insist on the look, go with an Oil Fooler (a cooler that's not hooked up)

I have the stock oil cooler on my SPF. If the temperature is below 60 degrees or so I run the cooler with a piece of plexi in front of it (you don't even see it) or the oil will not get to 180. If the temperature is between 60 and 90 degrees I run it partially blocked with a piece of plexi. Above 90 I use the whole cooler. I try to keep the oil at a minimum of 180 degrees.
