Colors...

Okay, I dig Backdraft.
Itsa BadA$$ looking car, and other than the originals, I like the way it 'Sits' the best. The hook is in, just need some details.

Ive been to the Vintage Motorsports web site several (hundred) times looking at pics & options & stuff. I like the wide range of color options available. Problem is, theres no way a pic is gonna give the true "Smack in tha Face" one would want when deciding on a color. The only way is in person (am I wrong?). As I'm in SoCal, heading to a dealer to check stock is kinda difficult.

Owners, how did you choose your color? Did you see it in person? Go from picks? See other cars with similar schemes? Are you satisfied with the paint quality? Hard to tell from picks, but which colors (if any) are metallic?

I've always dug a deep but bright metallic Candy Apple Red- would go great with silver stripes. :) Metallic Blue w/ silver stripes also rocks. I see some stuff on the site that comes close, but not quite...at least from the picks...
:(

Your comments are always appreciated.

Mrk,
If you have a specific colour scheme in mind, and are willing to wait a little, get the paint codes, and have the car painted at the factory, to your colour preference.

BDR colors

That is what I did, the factory painted with the color I chose, 2008 Beetle VW Salsa Red with Black Magic (metallic) stripes.

Really stands out in the sun, Audi has real nice red also.

Yes. This is the best way to do it. Get the color scheme you want or you will always wish you had. Do it once & do it right. Just my .02 cents

I'd wanted a red Cobra with white stripes since I was a kid:MECOOL: I looked at the Rossa red online and was convinced that was what I wanted. When I saw the prism red with white in person, I was "hooked":D So, seeing your color choices on a car is important too.

Mark,
Give me a call on my dime (toll free number) sometime so we can discuss all the details including color etc. If you go strictly off photos online you maybe surprised when the car arrives. I can also give you some guidance on the options (forget the glovebox, standard gauges are electronic, etc.). We can also discuss where the pricing currently is on different engine packages.

Hey, if you really want some wow factor with a little nod to history, there's a very unique BDR in the pipeline:

Lud, almost like Speedy I was convinced that I wanted Prizm Red. Then I went to the London Cobra Show in 07. After looking at hundreds of Cobras I changed my mind to this:

lovehamr 02-03-2009 12:18 PM

Thanks Jay, you should know! Nope it's not running though. Still haven't ordered the cam from Keith, but other than odds and ends (I'm sure there'll be a ton!) that's all that's left. I do have the fatazz seat back in it though!

Steve

Cashburn 02-03-2009 01:40 PM

So you made some dummy sidepipe mounts?

How does that seat fit?

6t8stang 02-04-2009 05:29 AM

I thought I knew what color I wanted...then Jay @ Vintage told me about one he saw in person. He sent me pictures of it still in the crate and said how much better it looked in person. No regrets after I saw it in person and still love it!

Roz 02-04-2009 10:24 AM
