Well -- it looks like I am president. -
Hi , -My Name is Steve , I am your new Pries-i-dent.(sigh)
The last few days have been sub-optimal around here - K and I went to a family funeral over the weekend. In leaving the PNW sunday early PM , -we got delayed getting to SFO ,(2 hour flt took 8 hrs) . Finally K and I got home last night somewhere north of 2AM. ( I am a vampire anyway , but the week has been tiring) Monday AM, we woke up to a dead water heater, and completely cold water. (it expired over the weekend) So ...I had the new water heater coming and the delivery / install guys said they wouldn't do the install without a clear garage to work in (I can understand that ). So in-between rain showers , I decided to try to ferry my cobra to the ranch. === on the way ; I was starting to get pelted by big drops, on the expressway. - I looked up and figured if I took a side street, I could fly around the clouds - and get to the shop with minimal soaking. It was not to be. Peeling over to a side street, it was all clear (12:30PM) on the way down the street, -the rain lightened up street was clear; no humans, no cars, however I didnt see the RADAR COP positioned with his little radar gun. ---who busted me for speeding in a "time-of-day" 25 school zone on a school holiday. When the subject came up about the cars "year" I said "it is a replica of a 65' but it may show "0000" if you run the plate. --he asked the make I said " Superformance cobra" but it may show SPCNS. -short story--- he then freaked out, and asked where the VIN was. this was further complicated by my drivers license being in my laptop bag (at home) as I put it there when I went through TSA and didnt take it back out. So the rain got worse, and worse, while they checked me (and the car ) out. (drip-DripDRIP_) I finally got frustrated and said , listen, can you just give me a ticket and let me get this thing indoors so it doesn't get ruined. You can follow me down to the shop and I will go over the car with you if you would like, its all completely Legal. I guess he got tired of getting wet, he mumbled, wrote me up for speeding and took off. (Good Grief) Steve |
Steve,
That is one heck of a way to start your presidency. Glad that you finally got out of the rain, though the ticket sucks. I learned long ago to never look at the sky here and think the rain is going to get lighter or go away. By the way, are you going to offer a Club Health Care package? Sorry, just couldn't resist adding that. Ron   |
What's the matter, Steve?
You're not a fan of the mobile taxman? Just wait till we get the speed light cameras that Ah-nuld is proposing. And CARB wanted a $1000 fine and 9 mos in jail for low tire pressure (no joke). And the diesel filters that will be required for earth movers and off road vehicles was proposed by a guy with a fake internet doctorate from a pedophile (who's hiding out of the country). When the legislators were asked about this scientists credentials, they replied that it was still sound science. But I digress...I'm sure the officer was concerned about the safety of the kids, who aren't even allowed outside when it rains. Hail to the chief! |
too bad the cops can't give Obama a 'spending ticket"
congrats and good luck with your presidency. brobehr |
Steve,
Sorry to hear about the ticket. When you're President, it's lonely at the top. :( I had a water heater implode about a month ago. Luckily I was home and noticed it leaking, since it started to flood the room below it. If I can ever plan in advance, I might go tankless one of these day. |
Being a newbie is this what I have to look forward to, a third degree to prove my car is legal? I'm sure there are some happily ever after stories as well so I hope that after this episode the rest of the year is clear sailing for you mein president.

Congratulations Panavia. It sounds like you missed the annual meeting and weren't there to protect yourself from being elected:LOL:. It happened to me once at a local swim club. It took me 9 years and moving out of country to get out of that overwhelming and low paid (0$) job.

Steve, you should have shown the police officer that your name and likeness are printed on the $2 bill.
|
Wow, I didn't know the school zone speed limit applied on days the school was closed. That's weird...
|
Ernie,
The sign here says only when kids are present for the high school zone. But I have seen a couple of cars pulled over on weekends, but don't know what for. They may have been gong above the speed limit for when school is out. Ron |
RodKnock,
I dont know if the 2$ trick will work in Santa Clara. -as- it works in other places. I got through Philippine customs with some IT gear once for 20$. |
Steve ... Hope the rest of your week gets better ... got that baby dried out yet?

Steve (and everyone else on this forum),
Just your presence here on the Bay Area Cobra Club forum makes you "President"...................... Bay Area Cobra Club no rules, no dues, everyone’s a president…..just have fun. As for your ticket, as a matter of principal get a court date. You can even opt for "judgement by declaration" so you don't even have to appear just mail in a form. Good Luck, Mike Monster Just another President |
