I used to be a wholesaler for them, can steer you to a Cobra friendly distributor in NJ if you like.

Bill: While I'd prefer a Bay Area distributor, a "Cobra friendly distributor in NJ" will do. I am interested in fire extinguishers for both my Cobra and Corvette. :eek: Perhaps their coolant additive too. What do you think of their products? Information on the web looks interesting. Rich

I'm a bit biased, have used it in all of my race cars and a few of my Cobras. I prefer the hard mounted units vs the hand held ones, but you cannot beat the protection of a water based system in an open cockpit automobile such as the cobra.....

Also, I've personal watched my supplier duplicate the video of Coldfire putting out a magnesium fed fire. It works as advertised, although thankfully I've never had to use it for my cars.

Bill: I've always carried fire extinguishers in my cars and am thankful that I've never had to use them. I like the idea of these being water based; sounds like they are eco friendly as well as being more effective. Working on magnesium is impressive, although not necessary for me at the present. My machines aren't race cars, so hand held is OK with me. Have you used their coolant additive? I'd like contact info on your supplier, if I may. Thanks, Rich.

Do your own homework. Also keep in mind since I am no longer in that business, I have nothing to gain or lose.I do know of several "non water based suppression system" dealers who wish Coldfire would go away as it hurts their business model.

Is this stuff any better than plain old Halotron? I went to the web site, but sometimes it's hard to tell crap from gold around here.

That depends on what you are using it in. Halotron and any other gas based system depletes a fire of oxygen, in an enclosed area this works, in an open cockpit automobile such as the Cobra, it does not. Again will one work better than the other, yes, but it depends on the environment they are installed in (as an example: a computer room where a wet system would not work well as it would damage the electrical systems).

I am by no means an expert on this, but have sold both systems in the past and now prefer the Coldfire systems for my personal use race vehicles.
