Mustang Ranch: Rod Creger.

Rod Creger, long time Nor Cal Shelby member and co-owner of the Mustang Ranch in Santa Clara, passed away of a heart attack suddenly this past Sunday Night.

Many Shelby Club members met Rod back in the late 70's early 80s when he had a business in Sunnyvale called Automobilia.

The Mustang Ranch formed in 1981/82 and he was a constant enthusiast of all things Ford/Shelby related in that entity. Rod was involved with Shelbys and the club(s) from the very beginning and was a great resource and good friend.

He was excited about the Cobra's and replicas, and often talked about building an 289 FIA at some point. we used to joke about "how original" can a "original" cobra be>?

- points distributors, Auto-lite 4100's and points distributors anyone >?

Rod worked on several original Cobras and AC's over his tenure, but the car I think he liked the most of all was his 67. -- "BUZZ" a 1967 Trans Am Mustang. In fact, he and Ray had just put a new motor in Buzz this last long weekend.

UPDATE: Photo of lydia and Rod with BUZZ. from about 2001.

Sadly , he didn't get to see it fire up this time.

Our Friend Rod will be missed and we are awaiting arrangements notification(s) from the family.

We are intending on having a couple of car focused remembrance events in the not too distant future.

As many of you know, -our friend suffered with diabetes and it really took its toll in later years.

Joe and I talked last night , and we would personally recommend if you want to really remember Rod, donations in his name to the American Diabetes Association would make perfect sense, as that was a sad and significant contribution to his early departure.

As for the Ranch, the doors are definitely open for business.

Joe and I are continuing the Ranch along with our highly trained veteran staff, - and look forward to new projects and our commitment to provide quality products and services is stronger than ever before.

Watch this post for updates on events.

Thank you all for your kind words, -

Steve

UPDATE: June 10th ,--

Steve,
My sincere condolences to Steve's family and friend at the Ranch. I only knew Rod a short time, but he was the "real deal" when it came to talking about the "good old days of racing" and his Mustangs. Godspeed Rod!

My condolences to Rod, his family and all at the mustang ranch. Rod was always helpful and took the time to talk about mustangs-fords past and present. I just talked with him last week.

A sad day,

marc-alan

Thank you all --

We are working on a Remembrance gathering at the Ranch this next week,

The idea ; We are printing up a poster size shot of him with his race car with an extended boarder to have people sign.

There will have one for the Shop, that we will hang in the lobby, -and one we will present to the family.

Thank you to all who have offered your time, thoughts and help, it means a great deal.

With Best Regards,

Steve

Condolences to Rod's family and to the family at the Ranch.

First met Rod in the late 80's when I had a '65 fastback. After meeting Steve at a CC event, I reconnected with Rod at a Mustang Ranch open house. Rod told me of his working on a number of Cobras over the years, and of almost buying a CSX2xxx car. The deal fell through, but some years later, he saw and worked on the very same car. Rod's knowledge of Mustangs and Cobras was amazing!

Condolences to Rods family. I don't know him but I do understand diabetes since my wife suffers from it so I donate every year.

Hope you're holding up ok Steve.
