Man, those guys Sacramento are sure busy looking out for our interests and focusing on ways to improve the business environment and economy in California.
Calif. lawmakers pass bill to quiet motorcycles
"SB435 would modify the California Vehicle Code to make it a crime to operate a motorcycle manufactured after Jan. 1, 2013, that fails to meet federal noise-emission control standards."

I have to say, that I certainly prefer the sound of a pack of Cobras driving down hwy vs. the ear popping sound of a group of hogs with open pipes. :)

I'm not hijacking this thread........
i just spent 3 weeks in Sacramento with family and i saw a story on the local news there that, if you get into an accident in Sacramento county and you are not a resident of Sacrament county then you will be getting a fine for getting into an accident in Sacramento county......the city council passed this.....tell me its not about the money...now that the city has passed this you will probably be getting fined for breathing in Sacramento county......and yes i have been pulled over in Sacramento county for not haveing a front plate but never got a fine for it....
|
So if I travel pass thru Sacto, and if someone run a red light, hit my car & cause an accident, I will get a TICKET since I am not a a resident there?
This is worst than communist...

I, for one, will just carry the front plate for the Cobra in my trunk with a couple of zip-ties. If they want to see a front plate, they will in about 30 secs!

It's not a fine. It is a bill for their services.

its a ticket, .5 on your license, and a fee, and if you have commercial drivers license no traffic school either.

What source did you use that indicates points added to your license for a mechanical violation?
That's a new one on me and I just retired 2 years ago from Salinas PD. There were numerous correctable VC violations which were paid at the front desk of the PD. Our charge for 5200vc No front plate was a $5.00 admin fee and it stopped there. If you didn't put the plate on THEN the cite turned into a large fine and eventually a warrant. the fees have surely go up but I have heard nothing about adding points to your license. I would be interrested in what site shows all the violations and the point system for 2010.

Agree. I couldn't find anything anywhere that it's a points violation. Maybe if you don't pay the fine you could get hit for points? It looks like the base fine is $25 (local and admin fees can also apply) and goes up if you're unlucky enough to get caught multiple times.

I'd like to know what idiot thought it was a good idea to have LEOs in force sitting and waiting to write front plate tickets.
That alone seems to be ridiculous. I understand if you get pulled over for something else and they tack on a front plate tic.
FYI: We have a bill in Missouri that has cleared the house, and is now at the senate for passage that will omit the front plate requirement.

California is not the calm peaceful law abiding state it used to be . We are filled to the brim with hundreds of gang factions and other criminal types.
Not mentioned were groups like "Megans law" (and others) are up Sacramento's A$$ pushing for their cause. I don't know about back east, but we have huge bill boards along major highways with descriptive information on drivers and vehicles.
Basically, if we could just force the crooks to run front plates it would be as good as only having the law abiding citizen carrying guns and not the crooks, but everyone pays.
Speaking of which.....Up here in Placer County they are allowing anyone with a clean rap sheet and 2 days of training to carry concealed. Just thought I'd throw that in....it's about time.:D

To put this to bed from my old stomping grounds...Salinas.
I just talked to my old partner Bud Van Blarcom who is on his 29th year.
Salinas requires a sign off which is now FREE (hard to believe)and a $10 admin fee to the court of Monterey AND no points are accessed to your license.
To have points added to your license you STILL have to have a MOVING violation. I think my work is done here. :D
