Jimmy's Old Car Picnic Sat 10/16 7 AM - 4 PM
Jimmy's Annual Old Car Picnic started in 1988 when classic car-loving friends got together in Golden Gate Park. It has since grown into the largest and longest-running show of its kind in San Francisco and includes cars, trucks, and motorcycles of all types, as well as a good number of oddballs, the Good, the Bad, the Ugly. Last year I saw an exact duplicate of my old '70 Camaro Z-28. Immaculate. Diverse, fun group of people. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/imag...ies/freak6.gif
For a $40 donation, which includes admission and other goodies, participants can park on Speedway Meadow's lawn. The money we raise benefits organizations that serve the Disabled community in San Francisco. If someone gets there early, a table with benches/BBQ pit could be saved. Otherwise, a blanket on the lawn next to our machines. It opens at 7 AM, so I don't expect anyone to get there *that* early. Anyone live in the city? I plan on leaving Cupertino 'bout 8 AM or so. |
Rich:
I might try to make that. SF is my hometown but never had a chance to ever park my car inside GGP. But "where" in GGP? I know all the areas so it can be just about anywhere! Let me know (assuming there's no rain in the forecast.) |
Herman,
Come into the park from the west (great highway or one of the avenues) and up JFK drive. I think it's called Speedway Meadows between the Polo Fields and Transverse Drive. |
Ah, thanks!
http://maps.google.com/maps?rlz=1C1S...ed=0CBMQnwIwAA I'll try to get there as early as possible. We can maybe get the Cobra's all together. :D |
Great weather predicted for this Saturday's Jimmy's Old Car Picnic. About 71º in the shade, if you're lucky enough to find some. I'll be driving up Highway 1 (19th Avenue) and going left on Crossover Drive (25th Avenue), past Fulton Street, left on Cabrillo, left on 30th Avenue, past Fulton again, and left on John F. Kennedy Drive. Right into [appropriately named] Speedway Meadow. I plan on driving west toward the end of the meadow, unless I see a bunch of Snakes beforehand. I still plan on leaving Cupertino 'bout 8:00 AM. Hope to see a few of you there. :p Rich

have to back out of this. forgot my wife will be off on business so I have to take care of Shelby for two weeks. Rather not leave her alone (for too long); otherwise, I would have met you all early in the morning and stayed through the night.
Have fun all! Next year! |
I was gonna grille a side of beef for you guys, but as it looks like you're all flaking out, I'm gonna settle for a couple of hard boiled egg sandwiches and a Pliny. Rich
