Major Ding!!

There I was, driving down the highway and some A$$ ejects a bolt off the back of his truck! It bounced and slammed into the top of my hood at about Mach 2. Took a gouge out of one of my stripes right next to the base color paint and all the way to the bone!!!

Anybody know of someone who can hide this well enough for now without having to re-paint the entire hood??

If you have a photo it would help.

Depending on the depth you would be surprised how good it can look. I've filled numerous goobers on cars since I started painting in 1969. But, it has become so much easier with base coat/clear coat PPG or Dupont etc.

It gets easier the simpler the paint job especially if it's a solid color with no metallic. You will basically fill, color (just enough paint to color the spot), then fill in with REAL Urethane Clear, activator and maybe a little reducer.

Give the clear time to bite and cure (several days)then sand with a block with 1500 -2000 grit and detail spray ( because it's slick). When perfectly flat, buff with a REAL buffer, not that Porta Cable junk polisher. Use a Maguiars burgandy pad to cut and buff, then a yellow polish pad with non-abrasive polish.

I won't go on until I see the damage but that's the gist of it. I will give you the pad numbers if you want them, and go into more detail if you want to call me. 916-791-7695 tom

Ken Pike in Yuba City if you aren't up to doing it yourself. He does excellent work and has painted as more Cobras than most people have seen in a lifetime - http://www.streetrodpainter.com/
