Stolen Cobra!

NOTICE! A black & gold Superformance 427 Cobra was stolen from a lot behind the RM Vintage Car Auction at Monterey (California) on Saturday night (20/21 August, 2011). It's fully decked out with an all-aluminum 427 engine and a fully array of Weber carburetors. If you've seen a Cobra matching these photos [CLICK HERE] and this description—in California or any other locale—or if you have seen any activity around a car-hauling enclosed (or open) transport vehicle or trailer that might in retrospect seem curious, suspicious or out-of-place, don't be shy and don't hesitate: promptly contact Phil Sachs at San Francisco Sports Cars at 415•450•0185 (office hours, PDT), or email: Phil@SFsportscars.com and describe to him what you witnessed. Entirely circumstantial evidence is how many crimes such as this are solved.

Scott: I posted this on the ALL COBRA talk as well.
Sure hope our cars are a "little" safer in Tahoe.

It's probably already been painted and have a new data plate installed. Sorry to hear, that's tough luck.

My guess is that they will try to part it out. Watch craigslist "auto parts" ads.

Spoke to Dennis Peck - it had Webbers and a new Ford Racing 427W in it with polished goodies. - be on the lookout for cheap bling in 427W land.

Keep an eye out for this chassis number.

My guess is it's packed in a container on a ship to some far corner of the world.

... or combine it with an FFR kit and have a newly discovered FFF car.;)

ZOERA-SC7XX 08-30-2011 06:02 PM

It'll get a new title (or an old one) with new plates and a paint job and the new owner will not have any idea where it came from. Although these Cobras are sometimes difficult to register, it would be quite easy to replace another Cobra or kit with current papers. Also, many of our group registered their Cobras with a title from some early Ford or Mustang. It will be next to impossible to recover this car.

sspano01 08-30-2011 06:44 PM

that is awful....

jhv48 08-30-2011 06:50 PM

My bet is it was loaded into a container and headed overseas. Too much heat in this country.

mic n gill 08-31-2011 02:02 AM

sorry for your loss, too many maternal intercourses out there, hope you get it back---Mic

PANAVIA 09-08-2011 12:35 AM

It is like a dead actress, i dont think you want it back after they are done with it.

the chassis numbers are in several places - if it is retitled it will be discovered.
