Mechanic for check up
Hi Guys
So I've had my Backdraft for 2 days and I've already racked up 60 miles! the car has a recommended check up at 100 miles to ensure all the nuts & bolts are tight. Since I'm new to this and don't have a lift, I'd like to find a trusted shop in my area that can complete this service as well as any issues that might arise in the future I'm in the Berkeley / Oakland area thanks in advance for your recommendations :3DSMILE: Art |
take a drive to San Jose Mustang Ranch, Steve be happy to assist you.
He is a member in this forum |
thanks TC, I have read great things about Steve and Mustang Ranch. They're about 45 miles from me so was hoping to find a local quality shop to do the first check up (put her on a lift and give it a once over for leaks, tighten bolts etc). If I can't find someone trust worthy I'll bite the bullet and make the drive
has anyone ever worked with or heard comments about Classic Cars West in Oakland? www..classiccarswest.com/ Thanks Art |

I think you will overpay in that environment. Ask Tony if he knows anyone through the club. Super simple cars to work on. |
Hi Jay. I signed up for the Bay area cobra club yesterday, is Tony the chair of the club? can you shoot me an email with his email info if you don't mind and I'll reach out to him this weekend
thanks! |
Call Ted at Taormina Imports in San Carlos He has built many cobras and can help you out in many ways at a very honest price. Make sure you say Mike Harter sent you cell #408-691-9340 (from where you are just go over 92 then 101 south to holly)

I am sure you can find a club member locally to look-over your beastie.
If you find you need a more thorough look, feel free to send me an IM. and *no* you wont overpay at MR, if anything we undercharge compared to other specialist garages. ( of course we could give everything away for free one day and someone would want to return it the next day for a full cash refund, even though they used their aunts credit card.... :) )) ) ) ) Steve |
Hi Art,
We have talked and met at breakfast. Steve Wood is great and you met Alan, both have excellent shops and provide top notch service at reasonable rates. There are several other shops in the Livermore, Sacramento and Oakland areas that can also provide services. If you want to just inspect the car and tighten up any bolts etc. bring it to breakfast and we can then stop at my place, put it on the lift and go over it with a fine tooth comb.......no cost. I am not the chair of the BACC, nobody is, we are all presidents and share our experiences and experience in amongst the group. That includes casual inspections, remove, rebuild, replace, engines, transmissions, shocks etc. etc. We are always looking for an excuse to get together plays cars, eat, drink and insult anybody standing around with their hands in their pockets. Another suggestion.
Someone who's closer to you. Jack Schroll of Mostly Mustangs, he's a very long time member of the NorCal Shelby club. He raced his original GT350 for years and years. He has always had Cobras in his shop too. I haven't been there for years, so I would check first to make sure he's still there. Mostly Mustangs | Ford Mustang Service, Performance and Customization | Oakland, CA 94612 His work was flawless way back when. |
You probably want to talk to the BDR guys and find out who is familiar with your manufacturer locally , as there is "Ford Stuff" to look at then there are "BDR Items" that you may want someone who knows what -is - what on a BDR.
we have only seen 1 BDR in person. |
Thanks for all the suggestion guys, will follow up on some of the leads
BTW Tony, will try to make the breakfast next week with the cobra, looks like the weather will cooperate |
