The Tour de Vin
Would like to thank the organizers of the first and hopefully annual " Tour de Vin." Thanks goes to Larry, Shaun, Mike, Rick and all the participants. Denise and I had a great time and the curse of the Green Snake has been lifted. I did not error, not even once. Harry Potter must be working on the weekends away from Hogwart (Stan). 39 cobras winding through the country side, it was great!!
Thanks Fitz............ |
Fitz,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad that you and Denise were able to participate and that you enjoyed your day. As for errors it was me that errored this time :o . On the longest route at the farthest point I put a right turn instead of the correct left turn. This took that group on a route that could have ended at DVII. However, the group realized my mistake and corrrected the error. Thanks to all of those that participated (amazing turn out for a first event) you made it a fun day for All. I hope that we can do it again next year. We would like to hear your suggestions to try to help make it better. (shorter routes, start on time, no map errors:rolleyes: , what ever..... thanks again, Mike 'monster' |
Great Job to you guys that set up the routes,Provided the Raffle prizes, Thought up the games (Marshmallow tossing???) and organized the stops with the wineries....
The only mistake was me following Russ Thompson into a head on confrontation with massive earth moving equipment at the very first intersection, while he thought his car was overheating.....Rick Currington has always said that Red cars have a negative impact.... We had a Great day with the all of the attendees. the drive and the five different Wineries. The seven mile run to Altamont pass was great!!!!!!!! Thanks Again to Larry, Shawn, Mike and Rick, Why do we have to wait for a year to do it agian....Semi Annual :D :D :D :D :D Tony R. |
Hey we just wanted to thank all those who drove the "Tour" From the responses, it seems everyone had a real good time.
We will definately have another run next year, bigger and better of course. Not bad for the first run. We only screwed up a few things. (Sorry about that right turn when it should've been a left thingy). Speaking of screw ups, we kind'a forgot to raffle the custom set of Cobra Floor Mats from Body Glove. These are really cool mats with the rubber backing and are stitched around the edges. Stay tuned I'll post some sort of an electronic contest for the "Tour de Vin" participants on this site and the FFR Cobra. Oh, yea! Mike Viramontes deserves all the credit he just about did the whole thing himself... so I'm sure we'll all forgive him for the right, left thingy... however Shawn, Rick and myself will accept credit and feel badly about it for a little while. Thanks again and we did good! Larry Davi "Mr. Potato Head" |
Another thank you.Myself and wife Carol thoroughly enjoyed the tour and ALL
the great camaraderie--a great bunch of people !!! Thanks again, and we look forward to next years' run---now just waiting for snakes to the lake! Larry Gross |
Well, to echo Mr. P's thoughts, if it wasn't for Mike "Monster" V., there would have been no wrong directions to even give out! Mike definately made this event happen, and Mr. P is surely to blame too. Both of these guys put in a lot of time and effort, I just showed up when they asked me to. I am happy to see that people had fun. It makes it all worthwhile.
Larry and Mike..... I think we should start planning next years event now. It will give us an excuse to go and drink beer at the Hopyard :D Hope to see you all again soon... Shaun. |
okay let me see....hhmmmmm
1) someone switched the (R) and the (L) keys on my keyboard (for an instant) 2) At least the map was correct 3) Believe only half of what you read 4) If Pat B. hadden't caught up with his group it would have been another 8 lost Cobras in the Altamont hills 5) Blame it on your navigators 6) If you had been coming from the other direction it would have been correct 7) One wrong turn out of 143 possible isn't that bad 8) It was a bonus route 9) It was part of the master plan by the "evil ones" so that we would have a better chance at the floor mats that Larry forgot to raffle. 11) Really, I am truly sorry about "Larry's" mistake on the directions :3DSMILE: (after all he made the copies and must have copied them wrong...... hey yeah ,I've got it it was Kinkos fault (bum Xerox copier). I'm glad it sounds like most had a good time, next year we'll shorten the routes and make them all (L) turns so no one can get lost. Thanks to All, Mike (R) "monster" |
I agree with Tony...why wait another year...I'm sure the drivers are willing, we still have cars and the weather is good...so...

I also concur with you and Tony R. wanting to make it a bi-annual event. But I do understand the planning, work (driving and map making--L or R) and time envolved. So, I am willing to help one or all of the founding fathers organized, take a station or what ever for the next event. Be it annual or bi-annual I will be there, this summer or next year! I believe life expectancy is good. Any others, step foreward! I do want to get better at the marshmellow toss tough.
