Insurance for the snake
Background: I have been insured with State Farm Insurance for about 26 years, have lots of cars, trucks, trailers, property insured with them. When I first talked with them about insuring the Cobra they said maybe, fill this out, submit this, do that, this is non binding, we estimate the cost at $1200 a year, full coverage, 100/300/100, uninsured motorist, road side service etc. etc. etc. I have a good driving record and no recent claims.
Two weeks ago State Farm Insure the Cobra and here is what it took: Fill out Application Free 1/2 hr. time Appraisal $150 (Gerald Wuichet 707-255-8787) Brake & Lamp Inspection $150 4 photos by the agent 1 dozen phone calls $1200 10 working days of hand wringing while they decided yes/no. There were no restrictions what so ever. This was done at Sandy Barrow's State Farm agency in Woodland, CA. Not cheap, but there were no mileage or storage restrictions as required other insurers. It was insured as a 2002 Roadster. Cobra Chuck :3DSMILE: |

I also insured my SPF with State Farm, here in Vallejo. Same coverage as yours but with an agreed upon value of $55,000 for $443 for 6 months. No pics, no appraisal, no mileage. It hasn't even been registed yet. And I even have a mark on my driving record. It took all of 15 min. with the agent. That's the best I could do considering today's cobra insurance climate. Lew |
COBRA CHUCK,
Another Cobra in Vacaville? Amazing!! TURK |
I have $50k agreed upon value with Grundy
for $383p.y plus 300-500 and no restrictions. State Farm quoted $389, they are my main carrier for my personal cars, we have a superior rating. What is your rating, seems very hight. If you joined SAAC you could get a free apprasial. |
HI GUYS - -
I'M WATCHING THIS THEAD CLOSELY. HAGGERTY JUST SENT ME A BILL FOR $600.00 "MORE" THAN LAST YEAR. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FIRE BECAUSE THE INCREASE WAS ON THE COBRAS ONLY. THE GT-40 AND TRAILER REMAINED THE SAME. I RECEIVED A QUOTE FROM A STATE FARM AGENT WHO WILL INSURE ALL THREE SPORTS CARS, THE TRAILER AND MY EXPEDITION FOR AN "MUCH" LOWER PRICE THAN HAGGERTY. SO MUCH LOWER THAT IT SCARES ME A LITTLE. STATE FARMS "SAMPLE POLICY" DOESN'T EVEN MENTION "SPECIAL" VEHICLES - AND THAT'S WHAT CONCERNS ME. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GRERAT DAY, BLACKJACK |
Hello All,
Blackjack - I have mine insured with State Farm here in Richmond. I have my other cars & home insured w/ them as well. 250/500/100 coverage, no limitations. Best driver rating on both me & my wife. Submitted photos and a 2 year old appraisal. It's listed on the policy as "2000 Ford Replica". Cost is $700/yr for the cobra. Jon |

Do you know who has the black Cobra in town. I have seen it two or three times since the middle of summer? It seems theres at least on more snake lurking in Vaca town. How did you turn out on the sale of your ERA? To All It sounds like Sandy Barrows is hosing me. Time to go shopping. I guess if you are a loyal customer you get rewarded with a bone in the wiswang. blackjack...more important than the increased rate from hagerty is what did they do to your LIABILITY coverage...check the fine print to see if it has been reduced considerably. they got hit with some heavy pay out claims. as such, in mich, they lowered their liability to the state required minimum with no optional packages to raise it. as such, in mich, they only offer 20/40 liability !!! *(and that to grandfathered current covered insured folks with them as they have not been writing new policies on cobras for over one yr) . 20/40 is like not having any liability coverage...if they did that to you too, then its time to go shopping sir. those little surprises of greatly increased rates and reduced coverage are discovered when hagerty sends their renewals. time to find another insurance carrier sir, hagerty does NOT want cobras....which they told me when i complained about the liability reduction despite having 3 cars insured with them for 10 yrs, no tickets and one small claim not accident related. look elsewhere my friend. bill.
