Selling my kit..

After finishing building my cobra and even driving it, I took it into a shop for a fresh paint job and a tuneup. 6 months later, after the shop went out of business, I retrieved the parts of my car.

My wife and I decided to sell it instead of putting it back together since there is too much emotional trama associated with it after dealing with the loss.

It even has a '67 cobra title and a license plate! No registration issues!

I am into it for 50k but would love to pull 15k back out. It is a great starting point to build your dream car. It is a shell valley kit and you can order all missing parts from them.

If your interested, give me a call at 408 203 1357 or send me a email and you could come over for a look

What the H@!! happened to your car? I would be freekin' livid to say the least, as I'm sure you may have been--but taking a $30k+/- hit like that---
What did the shop do, dismantle the entire car and sell off the running gear, etc.. ?

Sorry to hear about your loss!

Where are you located?

MouseJstr 01-07-2003 03:50 PM

I am located in San Jose near bascom and 880...

Car was running poorly so I brought it into a shop in Milbrae recommended by a friend for a tuneup. While there he offered to also repaint the car since it was all scratched up and the original paint was poorly applied.

I accepted...

A week later I came back and he had fully disassembled the entire car to leave himself just the removed body so that he could paint it...

A week after that, I came back and everything was off the frame... so that he could repaint the frame black...

By this time I am freaking out...

A week later, I come back and he has dissassembled the engine...

Well, I got the car sorta back together but
A) it needs a paintjob
B) It probably needs a new engine
C) Needs some welding on the gas tank
D) etc...

But as a starting point, it is great! AND, it is titled which is hard to beat

How did you get 50K in the car?

MouseJstr 01-07-2003 04:48 PM

Kit with parts cost 35K... 10K to pay people to help build... another 5K lost into the mechanic who destroyed it

It sounds like your mechanic was running a chop shop not a garage. Sorry to hear about the rip off. Where's the friend that recommended this guy? Did you check with State of California BAR to see what they know about the crook in mechanics clothing?

Mousejstr,

Truly sorry for your troubles--

Sounds as if you were royally ripped off

See any recourse?

MouseJstr 01-07-2003 10:14 PM

No recourse.... shop is closed... mechanic/owner has vanished... No insurance...

Friend who recommended them is no longer my friend

Thats about as bad as it gets. Sorry to hear about your loss, I can understand not wanting to re-build. Good luck to you.

Years ago the garage I worked in burned down. I lost two cars, my tools and my job. Then I find out: No insurance, no recourse and I barely got my last paycheck. Hard knocks, there no fun.

Very sorry to hear such a story. I just purchased a Shell Valley kit and have not taken delivery yet. Was wondering if you have sold your parts as of yet.

Thanks,

Scott
