Brake & Light inspection in east bay?
Well its time for the Brake & light inspection. The last thing I have to do for Mrs. Trimble%/
Can some one tell me where to go in the Danville Area? (post # 427):D |
Mike,
I will tell you at breakfast:D curtis |
Mike, For brake lamp inspection, Turk turned me on to Motoring Specialises inc. in Vacaville and it was worth the drive from Sonoma. You might give them a call (707) 448-1282. Good Luck, I’m finally up and Legal again.

Mike,
I went to AUTOS INTERNATIONAL 2201 Commerce Ave CONCORD, CA. 94520-4904 925-676-0440 They are off Hwy 242 and Concord Ave. They were very nice to deal with. I believe a little more than some. Out the door pricing was $97.00. Heard of some that were in the $82 range. Just doing the BOND is left for my ordeal. Good Luck, Fitz........... |
Thanks Fitz,

John,
Did he remove your wheels? did you have to leave your car? I went by there today after breakfast and the inspection guy was not there. I made an appointment for next weekend. However if he is going to start taking my car apart I will find someone else. |
Brake & Lamp
Mike;
I stayed with the Cobra and he did not take anything apart. They were quite friendly. One of their guys will drive it down the road to check brakes, but he was careful. John |
John I called the # you left and it is Ace Auto & Tire...
It is NOT Diablo Auto Care. The guy at Diablo is an ass. He is not intrested in doing cobras and he will not schedual an appointment so I can wait he said it will take 4 hours and he will have to take all of the wheels off the car. I would NEVER even think of taking my car to him even if he paid me. Diablo is behind Morgans Masonry supply is this the same place that you are reffering to? |
Mike,
Refer to my post above. It was fast ans friendly! fitz....... |
I just had my brake & light inspection done at White Automotive in La Habra...I know, it's So Cal, not No Cal, but my advice is to shop around if you can. It seems as tho few shops are set up to do it and the price range varies. A friend of mine had his done in Escondido for $90 and it was a fast 15 minute look-over. One inspector. whether it's a building inspector or a brake & light inspector, will interpret the code book a bit different from another.
My inspection took about an hour and the guy took off a front and rear wheel to check the rotors and brake lines. For the most part the shop guys were enthusiastic about the Cobra. My one "hangup" was the requirement to put a backup light on the car. They showed me the "Book" which said so. No problem. the Tremec has a reverse switch built into it. It was pointed out to me that the backup lens was not D.O.T. marked..but what the hell, it's good enough he said. He knew darned well that I was going to remove it as soon as I got home. Good luck!
