Historics In / Out list...
It seems a good time was had by most at the 2004 Historics at Sears Point. I had a great time I know that but it wasn't without it's moments.
I'm curious what your top 10 favorite things about the event were. You need not list 10 but as many as you like. Here are a few of mine. In: Driving your Cobra to it's first event. Out: Getting there to find a Factory 5 Coupe broken down at the entrance of the Cobra Corral and being told you have to come back later. In: An event coordinator smart enough to get the situation handled and overriding security and allowing people in the back way. Out: Having been delayed and missing Phil Hill by 3 min. In: Phil Hill having been there at all. Out: Not getting Phil Hill's autograph In: Being the youngest Cobra owner in the corral. Out: Being the youngest Cobra owner in the corral and being yelled at by someones grandpa for leaning on "the cars" In: The look on grandpa's face when I told him the car I leaning on was my car... Out: Grandpa being too embarassed to look at me for the rest of the day (I was going to thank him for looking out for other guys cobras) In: Hanging out with fellow Cobra owners. Out: Unsolicited advice about my car from fellow Cobra owners. (who's car was not there) In: Parking in a line of Cobras in which 4 of 6 were green like mine Out: Parking in a line of Cobras in which 4 of 6 were green like mine. In: Parking next to an original street Cobra Out: Parking next to an street Cobra (too much pressure) In: Knowing he paid 3x more for his car than I did for my house. Out Knowing he paid 3x more for his car than I did for my house. In: My house being worth more than his car now. Out I can't drive my house. In: Having your wife of 10 years referred to as your girlfriend. Out: Knowing to quit while you're ahead. :D |
After having to drive a mile past where the cobras parked, only to ride a crowded shuttle bus back down to where said cobras were parked I am now more motivated than ever before to finish my car.........I've got a year to go and the clock is ticking.
Michael was that your girlfriend, uh wife in the white tank top?? oops!, here comes my wife.......don't answer that :). -Jon BTW I was NOT the guy offering advise..... |
Indeed it was;). He wasn't offensive. I believe he was genuniely concened. I had left my wallet in one of the side panels on my first trip into the paddoc and mentioned it to my wife. She thought we should rush back... I told her I thought if anyone got too close to any of the cars (much less got inside) he'd get gang tackled... It was funny though.
I've done that trip down the hill sans the shuttle several times it is no fun. I wasn't sure I would bring my car this year it still looks like hell. I'd removed my fan switch and a couple others and never gotten them back in. I've got to replace the carpets and fix the door panels, reconition the seats. |
