What's everyone doing this 4th of July weekend?

I'm heading to Redwoood City, home of the Scott Peterson trial, for their 4th of July events. There is a car show with about 100 cars. When the parade is over there are a huge number of non car people visiting the show. It is the best car show event I attend.

Going to meet daughter half way between Dallas and Tulsa tonight and bring granddaughter (2) back to Tulsa with us. Then we plan on taking her to the RiverParks this Saturday. My Wife, Granddaughter, myself, and about 400,000 of our closests friends are going to listen to some bands, and watch fireworks on the 4th.

Be safe everyone.

Going to our annual 4th parade and festivities here on the Island, then going with friends on their boat for a party/evening cruise to watch the fireworks from the water in Seattle.

Jamo 07-01-2004 09:32 PM

All three daughters are going to be doing something. Looks like the first time in 23 years that we will be alone on the 4th.

Jamo,
The kids are safe. Pat and I promise, we wll make them wear safety glasses. Those fireworks can be dangerous....

What time do you want us to drop them off?

Going to visit the in-laws in AZ for 5 days. The plan is to spend at least 3 of the 5 doing absolutely nothing.
Sleep in, hit the pool, drink, lunch, drink, pool, nap, dinner, drink sleep, startover. ;)

HI Cobra 07-01-2004 11:18 PM

Had a starter switch problem which I fixed
so it looks like a drive around the island will
be in order, then to the beach in Kailua to
watch the fireworks display - and relax.

Sitting home, looking North and watching the fireworks, two weeks from now, I will be camping at Raystown Lake, and taking my fathers bosses boat (460 c.i.) out.

We're taking the Cobra to go visit some friends in the north 'burbs. In chronological order: blow into town and accept adulation from all the onlookers (No, no, for the car), drink Bloody Mary's, eat donuts, watch the parade, smoke a cigar, maybe have a nap, go look for some lunch, maybe have another Bloody Mary, have dinner, with shooting fireworks possibly being interspersed among the foregoing, although the cops started hanging around "our" corner five or so years ago and they put the kibosh on the big stuff. After dinner, go shoot fireworks with a bunch of old guys like me. Seems my tastes haven't changed since I was sixteen! July 4th is better than all the other holidays together.

I'm going to sit back and think how fragile FREEDOM is and how hard it HAS ALWAYS BEEN to sustain it.
God Bless America.

Karl Bebout 07-02-2004 06:26 AM

I'll make the 25 mile drive to the Chandler AZ festivities. Classic Rock n Roll bands, car show lie and brag, lots of "healthy" foods, the occasional barley pop, fireworks, and 107° temperatures. What could be better!

Ron61 07-02-2004 06:30 AM

Watch races. Rest. Watch more races. Rest. Watch fireworks from backyard. Rest. Then take a nap.

Ron :)

I get my car back today!!!!!! :D

Leaving in a few minutes to pick my baby up... Got a car show this evening and then a cruise in at the QSL tomorrow... Plan on putting some miles on this weekend... Had to go to the Fling with no car and that just wasn't any fun... Well, not as much fun anyway.

:D

Ron61 07-02-2004 06:49 AM

Al,

What were you having done to your car? Hope everything came out ok. Have a great 4th.

Ron :)

The weekend starts today (Friday)! Me and Z are making a lunchtime Cobra run to Fred’s Ale House in Snohomish for bacon cheeseburgers.

Saturday…11 of us NWCC’ers are heading down to Pacific Raceways to watch the vintage sports car races and bask in the adulation of the car corral. After that, run home, pack, run up to the cabin, and get everything ready for our annual 4th of July party/BBQ rib cook-off.

Sunday…party, eat ribs, and blow sh!t up.

Monday…check for bodies, look for the dog, get the spent fireworks off the roof, out of the yard, off the dock, and out of the lake. Take a long nap.

And finally, Monday night…mentally prepare myself for the coming week when our home of 16 years goes up for sale.
