Engine Out For Repairs

My engine repairs are ending up to be a little more then cam and lifters. I have the engine on a stand in the garage. I am in the process of looking for a machine shop to do some work to the block, heads and to check out the crank and related parts. So if any of you have some good experience with a shop, let me know. At least I feel better since it has been raining almost everyday.

custom race shop

Mike Blackstkone built my 351W a few years back. Mike's at Watson Racing Concord, CA now. I will look up his number and address if this is what you are looking for.

I can recommend Mustang Corral in San Jose

Elliott Franklin did at least 3 engines for BACC guys. All of us are very pleased.

Want to ship it to Detroit?

Mulv 01-11-2005 09:59 AM

Take Gary's advice.. Elliott is a good guy who does very tidy work and he is local in case you want to make changes in progress. He did some things with the DeathMobile and the Mustang....

Can of worms...

Scootter, man I know what you mean! I was "just" going to replace the cam and lifters, no big deal.

Now it's stripped to the block, getting new pistons, having the crank turned and balanced, etc.

Dam expensive "cam shaft" replace! :D

Hi Scott. Sorry to hear the black beauty is down. I guess now is as good a time as ever with the rain and all. I have been to Elliot at Mustang Corral also, I was very pleased w/ his work. Hope to see that beauty on the road soon. I have been working every weekend since June so have not been able to make a breakfast. Hope to see all the guys someday soon. Mark.

My boss broke a cam in his S-500 mercedes. They just replaced the cam and cleaned it up. It burned a quart of oil every 500 miles and was down on power.

$28,000 (under warranty) Stead in Walnut Creek (not the dealer that just replaced the cam) it was right. The only expensive repair is the one you need to do twice.

Tom's Precision Machine in Antioch

Does great work for a fair price and has stood behind his work. One thing you have to be prepared for is that he is brutally honest and will tell you what he thinks. As he is going through a pile of parts he will say something like "this is good, this is crap, I can make this work if you really want but something else would be better" etc. etc.
Balancing, head work (verified by a flow bench), dyno. Give him a call.
