SAAC does Vegas
Hey
Anybody going to the SAAC thing in Vegas? I believe that I shall be there with my long awaited super light trailer. Take this as a warning.... Mulv |
Are you kidding? After all of that, you are going to go? I can't wait to see you there. Now we have to work on you for Reno!!!

We were wondering what became of the trailer idea last week at breakfast. Whas -up? Sort of in the market myself , but after using Mr P's for a week , my tiny truck needs steroids or a lighter trailer.

The prototype trailer is ready and I will be taking it to Vegas with the DeathMobile... Specs: 14 feet on the deck steel two 3500 pound axles brakes on both axles 5 wheels - no ,actually one is a spare... 7 foot ramps 14 inch deck height and (drumroll) 900 pounds total! 1800 pounds is not a lightweight trailer - 900 is....This is perfect for munchkin mobiles to tow Cobras (or Race cars or snowmobiles or motorcycles or..).... Seriously, the design philosophy was to enable people such as myself who have vehicles tow rated at around 3600 pounds to move their toys about the countryside without having to spend $35K on a vehicle that gets 15 MPG . Honestly, I will only tow the cars around maybe 10 times a year and generally a fairly short distance of maybe 200 miles. I have a compact truck that gets 25 MPG but I needed to find something light to do the job. Brian James makes really great lightweight trailers in England but it costs as much as shipping a car to get one over here. In fact he has a steel trailer that can be towed by a VW Golf for the Super Seven racers... amazing. On the other hand ,manufacturers here under rate vehicles for towing so that they can sell highly profitable trucks instead of more efficient vehicles for the purpose. Everyone my age remembers when the familly car was used to tow all sorts of things includind Airstream travel trailers... If you look back, you'll find that the average car from those days was lighter than they are now. My 66 Mustang is 750 pounds lighter than my 2003. A new Crown victoria is heavier than a 60 Ford Convertible, yet my dad towed all sorts of stuff with one and the new Crown Vic is only rated at 2000 pounds - ridiculous! Anyway , because of the "Lawsuit Lottery" that goes on in this country, I decided to comply(against my nature) with the tow capacity of the Ranger and make my own trailer. Now it seems that there are others who are interested, so I am making brochures and we will see what happens... If anyone has an interest in a light easy to tow trailer, send me an email and I will reply with pictures and pricing. Also, Brett as this is technically advertising, send me an email with your rate card - I don't mind paying for things I use... Thanks Steve |
Greetings
So, is anyone going to Vegas? Don't tell me it is too far? It is only 500 miles from the Bay Area... Reno is at least 800 from me... now you know why I am not going to the Reno event.. Mulv |
