Arnold's HumVee

I posted a reference in All Cobra Talk to an article from last Sunday's Chronicle regarding our Governor's apparent illegal operation of his HumVee.

Matier & Ross' email address is:

An informational note to them about how you feel about this certainly couldn't hurt and might even gain a bit of publicity regarding the current plight of hobbyist vehicle owners here in CA??

Regards,
Doug

I'm not sure what the reference to his humvee being illegal means... I tried reading the story but threw up on my keyboard. The Chomical does that to me.

It may have to do with his Humvee being a prototype. He was I believe the first civillian to own one.

Either way Arnold loves cars and hates bureaucratic BS... That's as close to a friend as I will ever have in the Govenors office.

Yeah, but is it "real"?

Yes I believe Arnolds Humvee is an "original" military vehicle modified at great expense with "creature comforts" just for him!

Around that same time, perhaps BECAUSE Arnold had one, the idea to produce some at the factory specifically for civilian use started. All though "real" these would be at best the "continuation" Humvee's.

Now the new Humvee II is widely available at a fraction of the cost of an "original". These of course would be "replica" Humvee's. :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE

..not that any of us would know anything about this original vs real vs replica thing.

Which of course then begs the question:
The glass "kit Humvee" sold by Don Scott through Classic Roadsters II is a (pick one):
1. Real?
2. Original?
3 Replica?
4 Replica of a replica?
5 Just drive the dam thing anyway you can and enjoy it!

I think the new humvees are more like what Bill Ford would call a reinterpretation. Certainly not a true replica. I guess Arnolds would be considered a Hybrid.

I'm guessing Arnold never paid the registration fees on his $200,000 hummer. Can't say as I blame him.

Oh,,, good one!

6 "Reinterpretation"

Can't wait to use that one in the next round of, "Is it Real"? :D

My wife and I are members of The Hummer Club inc. I got the cobra and see got the Hummer. "Origional" Civilian model 1998 turbo diesel wagon. Arnold has been invited to a lot of our national meets and has attended a few. Mostly at the plant in Indiana. Never seen him off road. Wish I had put pics in my cobra gallery. They are not invincible they do roll. $10,000.00 later looks good as new. Wish all our cobras from CA could be registered in Indiana:JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE :JEKYLHYDE
