Update:****Tour de Vin*****

Well,
The Tour de Vin executive planning committee held an emergency session this past weekend and.................... date has slipped again.

Fact is we got a late jump on things this year (due to a number of issues that have come up  ) add the fact that it's tough the live up to the high standard we have set and that folks have come to expect at Tour de Vin.

NEW Date: July 22

This should be the last time we re-schedule, we are going to this year’s location this week-end to plan things out then we will be posting the registration. Details will be provided on the BACCEVENTS site at that time.

Thanks,

Mike and Larry - thanks for all your hard work in putting this together. Best of luck in your recon trip this weekend. I am sure we will all enjoy the fruits of your labor.

What is The Tour de Vin? I don't think I've heard of it before. What do you guys all do? Is this some kind of club?

Thanks

WHAT IS TOUR de VIN???

Tour de Vin is:

Driving your Cobra on scenic back roads along with 40 or so Cobras

Getting together and socializing with other Cobra owners & spouses/significant others

Sampling area wineries

Great BBQ

FUN

The format:
Each group (flight) leave's the start location and each heads for 1 of the 3 destination wineries via scenic local back roads (usually 3 groups of 15 - 20 cars). Drives are typically 20-30 minutes and winery stops are typically 1hr. Once the hour is up then its on to the next stop on the tour. Once each group has visited all 3 wineries then its off to the final destination for a BBQ, games and raffles.

hope this gives you an idea of what Tour de Vin is about...........FUN

Hey Monster,

This does sounds like fun. Please let me know when you get all the details worked out.

Thanks again, John

This sounds great, let me know or I will track the progress, the event is something that I would want to attend!

Each year we have tried to explore new (different) wine regions. I failed to mention, this will be the 5th annual Tour de Vin and in the past we have visited Livermore Valley (twice) , Sonoma, and Amador. We are checking out a new region again this year (which is what takes the time in planning).

Keep checking here and on BACCEVENTS.com for updates and registration information.................

Mr. Monster: I dabble in the wine business and would be happy to assist with the wine area/winery selection, if you desire. :p Rich

It's going to be "hot in the hot tub".

Yeah, you can say that again!

Bring plenty of sunscreen, extra hats and and drink lots-o-water.

4pipes 07-18-2006 07:22 PM

I just saw the KTVU forcast for Saturday......105! I may have to punt.

Monster 07-19-2006 03:25 PM

Don't let KTVU spoil your fun, since when have the "weathermen "been right?

Seriously, Livermore has a number of micro-climates, the national weather reporting station is located at the livermore airport. The Temp between the airport and south Livermore (wine country) can vary by 5-8deg. The BBQ is in an adjacent valley which is typically 10+ deg cooler (with lots of trees). The drives are 25 mins each with 1 hr stops at the wineries. The wineries all have shade and air.

All that said, it will be warm, so just......
1) Pack some water,
2) if you can find a pump-up personal mister "EZMist" "MistyMate" etc get it. (these are great to have and are recomended for every Cobra owner)
3) Remember sunscreen and a hat
4) Neck cooler bandana's are great (those neckerchiefs with gel)

see ya,
Mike
