Will the real Shelby please rev up. Hertz Vs. GT500

After looking at the Hertz with its CSM Shelby Vin, dash decal, Shelby Hertz threshold plate and Shelby name plate on the trunk. I will have to vote for the Hertz as the real Shelby.

I would have to agree. I drove one this weekend while in LA and it is a screamer!!!

The Hertz is a naturally aspirated engine, with some minor mods on the surface, such as a mass air flow air cleaner from Ford Racing. Suspension is where this car is tricked out. Lowered, ford racing strut bracing, humongus front stabilizer bar, 235/55/17's all around with the 5 spoke torque thrust type wheels, and a nice purrrrrr of exhaust. I did not get under the car to see the picture, but it did not sound like a stock GT mustang exhaust.

The cars are automatic, but the performace is not bad at all. 0-60 happens quick...real quick. 0-100 was fast as well. No times, but it was effortless with plenty of engine left.

Going around the corners seemed easy and the car maintained an extremely flat profile. I have driven the normal GT, and this did not dive into the corner like the GT. Additionally, the lowered profile seemed to add to the stability. The front seemed lower (optical illusion?).

Since they used the 4.6, the car is lighter than the PIG known as the GT-500. That may account for the responsiveness in steering.

Does anyone know what the HP output on the Hertz is by the way?

I believe the hp is a little more than a GT 325hp.

I just looked on the Shelby site and it looks like Shelby did complete the final assembly of the Shelby Hertz cars.
