Tell me if this is stupid I was in the shower this morning and thought of an idea... I was looking for an excuse to drive the cobra to work today, and really didn't have one, and I got to thinking that I generally saw some hot rods, exotics, and classics on the road on fridays down in Silicon Valley - people just really excited to get in their toys, maybe even show off a bit. I'm also really tired from having a jet lag from being in Korea, and thinking about how much I needed some coffee. So I thought, why don't I organize a Hot-Rod, Exotic, and Classic Friday Morning Drive By? Would be a good opportunity to see other great cars, give people excuses to drive them, network with some local professionals, and of course, get some coffee in the process. I could get little business card flyers to get the word out, etc... Thoughts? Is this stupid? -Nathan |

Sounds fun to me. I'm always looking for an excuse to drive it to work. Do you have ideas for a place to go? PS please no more talk about you in the shower  Daryl |

Was thinking somewhere around Sunnyvale - since it is fairly central... There is a starbucks on El Camino just NW of Wolf that has a big parking lot and a few outdoor tables... I figure this will only work if I can get the word out... -n |

A bit far for me. |

If I start now, I'll be there for next Fridays gathering.:p :p :p Since when does ANYONE need an excuse to drive their Cobra????? :p :p :p :p |

well last week i wore a racing polo on casual friday, and got called out in a meeting of 40 or so people - "before we start let's talk about nathan's shirt"... so it would be nice to have something like... "well I had to bring it... I was at a networking event"... :) -n |

Oh that is rich. Yes, by all means drive the car and then, after the meeting, challenge anyone of them Vette lovers to a little... Wooow, getting carried away. :D :D |

Not a bad idea, except with the type of work I do I can't drive mine to work. If I happen to be off work on a Friday, it would work. I have mentioned to a couple of people that there is so many cars in the bay area we should have some sort of weeknight gathering. It could be at one of the local ones that already happen, or a new different one. Big Dogs has cars over on Tuesday nights. Scott |

what kind of work do you do scott? what is big dogs? maybe i just dont know the local automotive goings on. -n |

I manage a couple of landfills in the bay area. So it is pickup truck only to work. Big Dogs is a little dirve in over at the corner of Foxworthy and Cherry in San Jose. They have a gathering there on Tuesday nights. I have walked through a couple of times. My wife and I go to the Starbucks there. They even have the 76 down the street with 100 octane gas for a price. If you want more info on the different things going on you can go to http://www.driveonline.com/ or pick up their mag at one of the auto stores. Scott |

Driving your car is never stupid. I've just never though an excuse was required. Best of luck! |

I guess any reason to drive the Cobra is fine like: The sun came up today or it's not raining... Have fun! Clois |

Don't forget Big Dog Thursdays, Scott. Too bad the nearest Peet's (superior coffee) is way up in Cupertino (by me). :p Rich |

I drive my car to work all the time. My only excuse is that I like to wake up the neighbors. |
