Upholstery Shop Recommendation Needed!
It's about time for me to start planning an interior for my project.
The car is up at Kens now (www.streetrodpainter.com); I don't expect to see it for at least 3 months...he's got a lot of work ahead of him. From what I hear, good upholstery shops are booked 3-6mos out...so it's probably time to book. Can anyone recommend a good shop in the San Jose / Bay Area? Proximity to home (south san jose) would be nice, but not required. Thanks in advance, Byron |
Anyone...Anyone...Bueller...Bueller...

I was going to post a similar question about exhaust coating, but something tells me this is the wrong place. |
I think the guys name was Brett at Bascom Upholstery. As I remember it was in the Santa Clara area by 101. I don't have a lot of experience but he came highly recommended and I have no complaints. I just did a volvo headliner.

Exhaust Coatings---I have a mechanic that does muscle cars in Mountain View. His name is John at Diamond Ridge Motorsports (650)964-4040. John did mine and I was out of town so I don't know who he had them done by. My second thought is to ask a header/exhaust builder.
This company is in South San Fran http://www.sandersonheaders.com/index.php This company is in the Sacremento area http://www.spdexhaust.com/index.html And this guy is in southern Cal, Costa Mesa. http://www.burnsstainless.com/index.htm |

Byron: Bascom Trim and Upholstery, 852 Aldo Avenue, Santa Clara, 727-2292 was recommended to me by a demanding friend of mine (owns a very nice '65 Ferrari 2+2). I plan on checking them out to fit my tonneau cover. If you decide to use them, let me know what you think. I hate to recommend a place unless I have personal experience, but I do respect my friend's opinion. ;) Rich

Bascom does do nice work, but their prices are crazy. Their fancy computerized bid to cover my dash was close to $250. I walked to the building next door where Sid Chavers has his shop(880 Aldo) and got a price of $125. For those who don't know, Sid's work is the stuff you see on the cover of "Street Rodder", etc. I don't know if he would be interested in doing an entire Cobra. He does more custom hot rod stuff like '32 Fords, but it would be worth talking to him.
Good Luck, Jon |
