9/9/06 End of Summer run / Lewis Downs

As many of you are aware, the Cobra world lost a prized member this past weekend in the form of Lewis Downs. The reason for this thread is that the memorial service for Lewis conflicts with this year's End of Summer Run - 9/9/06 and I need to know if there are enough people interested to maintain the Run.

I see it that we have three options: 1 - continue as planned; 2 - postpone until SUNDAY September 17 (the Winery is not available on 9/10 and I can not make it on 9/16); or skip this year's event entirely.

I of course mean no disrespect to Lewis' memory as he has been a staple in the Cobra and Shelby community around here for many years. However, I expect that many people who plan to go on the Run may not have known him or may not plan to attend his memorial.

As such please join in the poll and let me know your preference. I need to let the Winery know ASAP if we are canceling or rescheduling. Also if you have not responded previously, let me know which day (or both) works best for you. For now, the event is still on for September 9th.

Anne and I were going to have to bow-out anyway as my MIL is near death.

Stan - it is still a little early to tell. So far only one person who was previously set for the 9th has advised that he can't make the 9th but would be able to make the 17th. I have you and another fellow who were going to be unavailable on the 9th, but would be able to make it on the 17th. There are a couple of folks who would prefer the 17th but can still make it on the 9th.

So far on the poll, the 9th is still a better day however we need a few more responses - I believe a number of people are still trying to sort out their decision.

POLL TAKERS - as this was my first attempt at a poll I did not realize that I would not know who responded in what way. Please add your response to this thread or send me an e-mail regarding your preference. I hope to finalize a decision by early next week.
