I friend of mine called me the day after it happened. His co-worker's son was in the passenger seat.
This is all second hand information so I apologize in advance if any of this is wrong. From what I was told, it was a white Superformance that the guy bought from the estate of someone who recently passed away. The new owner is in his mid 40's Apparently according to the passenger's dad, they were travelling at 100mph+ on Hwy 13 southbound between Lincoln and Redwood road and hit some bumps and lost it. The car ended up rolling down the embankment. The fire department had to pry them out of the car. The car had dual rollbars. The passenger had some broken ribs and maybe an arm. The driver got scalped a little bit but I don't know anything more on him. I believe the car is toast. Looks like our insurance rates will be going up some more. |
Hope everyone will recover.
Just a note to all, I cannot stress enough that these cars need to have the suspensions set up properly. The cars out of the box, from all manufacturers are not safe, the springs and shocks need to be set to the engine/tranny etc. I remember my first SPF, if I was not belted in on the highway the car would have tossed me. Are these two crashes related? 580 near Livermore and 13 in Oakland aren't close together. Maybe two diff car accidents? Hope all are ok.

Hate these threads, but they are necessary. Mine almost killed me in the first month, Driver inadequacy. Be carefull out there, especially newbies.

Per a very knowledgeable source, the accident happened on Highway 13 when his left rear tire lost pressure, the car spun and hit a guard rail. The driver suffered stitches and a concussion from hitting the roll bar and the passenger had 3 broken ribs.
The chassis appears to be in good shape but there is considerable body damage. I understand that the car only had one roll bar and no number 6. Perhaps there WERE two separate accidents involving similar cars. |
