Q: Any recommendations on Ceramic Coaters in the SF Bay Area?
A friend of mine Jon Miller, is asking around for any ceramic coaters in the area; he's been advised of one in Mountain View but would like to know if any others are out there. We both live in Sunnyvale.

289FIA;
I agree with acmikee - Accessories Plus (owner Ron Zagmagni) in Belmont is pretty good with powder and ceramic coatings. He has ceramic coated my side pipes and short headers and just picked up some parts from him last Friday; as always, I am impressed with the work. He is also very reasonably priced. Here's his address: 1421 "D" Old County Road Belmont, CA 94002 Ph: 650-591-2400 Fx: 650-591-2180 Email: AccPlus1@aol.com It is a little tricky to get to his shop, since you need to go through a driveway and back into an area where there is a truck shop (he is to the left of the truck repair shop where you will see his trailer rig setup and other parked cars. Thanks Mike! You too George for the details. Fwd. to Jon. And I may be doing some business with them down the road.

Recommendations...
I found a great spray shop in Auburn, CA. As a bonus, it's right next to a great hot rod shop filled with goodies. That's who did mine. I can't remember the exact name. Starts with an A. ACI? ACD? ABC? EIEIO? No, that's not it. I have a card in my files if you want it. They did a great job, at half the price of local quotes.
If you're interested in using them, I'll provide details. I had a horrific experience with Spray Technologies in Santa Clara...can't say I recommend them. Prices are high, workmanship was mediocre...and ownership/correction of a problem created by them was ZERO. Based on that alone, I'll never do business with them again. There's another shop in Gilroy, but I didn't like what they offered for coatings. http://www.missionpowdercoating.com/...p-coating.html My interactions with that company were very positive though. If I ever need something done in ceramichrome or similar, I'd take it to them. The same goes for any normal powder coating jobs. |
How about Sanderson Headers in South San Francisco?

Another vote for Ron at Accessories Plus. He gave me a 15% discount for being a member of NorCal SAAC; perhaps he'll do the same for BACC! Rich

Powder Coater in Auburn
OK, My memory is bad. It's Carmichael, CA (kinda close) and the name of the company is AIC.
http://aic-amerikote.net/ AIC Willie Croft 4009 Leos Lane Carmichael, CA 95608 (916)-944-3300 I did the 2000+deg ceramic black on my one-piece header/sidepipe exhaust and the whole bill was around $600. I delivered them in raw welded, flash rusted, previously run condition. His work included dechroming/blending, metal prep, blasting, blemish repair, hot-tank to remove interior carbon (already ran them), and coating them TWICE (it had a small visible drip the first time, he called and asked what I wanted to do about it. I let him decide and he chose to strip and recoat free of charge). They look very good...especially considering I built these myself and didn't give him a lot to work with. http://www.racesystems.com/cobra/images/pipe.jpg And, it just so happens that this place is right next door. http://www.hotrods-americanpastimes.com/ ...which I found very entertaining. |
