UV Dye Light - Anybody have one?
I keep noticing a small amount of oil that seems to accumulate where the head meets the block (2" area near the back of the block on the driver's side).
I tried replacing the valve cover gaskets, but the seap/leak persists. I was thinking about trying a dye test before get the installer/Roush involved. Anyone in the South Bay have a UV light that I could borrow? Doug |
May I suggest you go to autozone and buy that pen light they sell for like $10.00.
I got one last year and have used it on a few vehicles. It works. Just a suggestion. BTW, I like your avitar. :D :D |
i have a lite but i would check with the engine builder befor adding the dye to make sure it doesn't void their warrenty.....mike

Using the appropriate dye will not void any warranty, it sounds like its coming from the intake manifold, there are seals at the front and rear and are real easy to get them out of place when installing the manifold.

Doug,
I have one you can borrow. I live in Livermore, but work in San Jose. I could take it to the office with me on Monday if that will help. My office is at the corner of Junction and Trimble. Chris |
Clean the area and then spread a little baking "flour" around where you suspect the leak. Start the engine and let it idle. You will easily find the leak, and its cheap.

Chris - Thanks for the offer. I found out that my cousin in San Jose has one that I can use, so I'll give it a try.
