Spotted: Black Cobra in Sunnyvale
I spotted a black cobra on Saratoga Sunnyvale road today around 12:30 pm. I think it was a slabside. It had a 427 emblem on the side and had Hawaii plates. Maybe visiting for the Cobra Bash?
Looked good! :D |
Doug,
I forget his name, but I have meet him a few times. He will probably be over at Boston Market on El Camino today. Greg and I are going to take a run over there. Scott |
Wed night hangout...
If I run out of parts to install and feel like a test drive, I may stop by.

Didn't make it
Broke a tap off in my windshield and spent the evening dealing with that. :)
|
Doug: I think I saw that same one, going down on Larry expressway on Monday but going East/North bound.
|
The car turned left into a housing track off of Sunnyvale Saratoga right before Fremont High School. I did a double-take when I saw the plates were from Hawaii.

That Cobra is CSX7007 and belongs to Kei Iinuma who is spending the
summer in California. He has, I believe, a nice Roush stroker in it. You will see him at the Cobra Bash along with Al Zane in his GT 40. One of these years I'll make the trip too but this year is out. |
Ahh Hawaii...
Unfortunately, I can't make to the bash this year, 'cause I'll be in Kona that week. I can't wait. I need a vacation BADLY!!! Aloha, Randy... |
Yup it was Kei. (super cool dude)
He was here at Mustang Ranch in santa clara --for Service and Parts. --his Wife is very nice, she is a trooper! --we tech inspected the car for the races recently and are confused about a possible Wheel Bearing issue he is having that is unique to the CSX 8000 series. yup---It has a 427W in it and is a very capable machine. ---! --he did most the work himself. We got a chance to geek out on cobras for a bit today. Steve |
Question for scooter
Scooter
Can you tell me if your car is set up lower than normally done with stock SPF suspension and if so can you tell me more about what you had done and who did the work Thanks Rob |
I still have an article of his cross country trip from Hawaii (shipped to port of Oakland.) to Atlanta Motor Speedway and back to Sunnyvale. The year was 1995. The car at that time was a MidStates Classic Cars Cobra, also black. The motor was a modified 351C (the article points out it was a Cleverland.)
The highlight was visitng MidStates Classics to pay homage, and a chance to hit the track at Atlanta. Of course it was a cross country to and from (Traveler would be very proud of both Kei and Miki) so taking in the sights must of been great! They completed 10,232 miles on this trip. I wonder if he kept that car or not. If you guy's are interested (any 1st Sat. of the month Breakfast runs again?), I"ll bring the article to breakfast. Of couse if you're heading to the San Leandro Marina for the kit car show, I'll understand if there are no takers! I'll bring the article and ask Kei about his adventures! :D |
That's Kei (Kay) and Miki for sure.....
Great folks and they drive it like they stole it! SAAC33 had them slowed down a bit but they were taken care of and back on the road by Sunday 8-17 when they started back to the west coast. Woman of the Year = Miki L :) |

Kei's Midstates is his daily driver in Hawaii, without it he'd be walking!

That's pretty cool... a Cobra at every port. Then again, if he goes to and from Hawaii on a regular basis, it makes sense because shipping a Cobra to and from Hawai'i is easily $2,000 or more per round trip, not to mention having to fear if it'll arrive damaged or not.
I think it makes sense to have a car at both locations in that regards. |
