Car Show Jun 22
Sports & Race Car Show, June 22, Danville Livery Shopping Center.
It was a great show last year with most Car Clubs well represented. Register now. Forms available at Auto Affair or on their web site. Cobras, Mustangs, Corvettes, Aston Martins, Ferrari etc. A Show is a great chance to meet people interested in cars. John |
John,
Danette and I might drive up to check out the cars and have lunch. I'm not going to enter "our" (my) car. Is there decent parking around there to leave the cobra. Scott |
A friend just invited me to play Monterey Penninsula on Saturday & Pebble Beach on Sunday, so my weekend plans just changed. See you next time.

We would still like to come and see the cars of all nameplates at the show. Do you know if there wilkl be ANY "replica" cars at this show at all or is it only for people with Shelby or continuation cars? I guess I'm just dumb or too new to this Cobra world to still think that it is a shame that all really beautiful and nice to see cars could not be involved in shows like this whether purchased or hand built. I guess that is not the case however. This show still sounds like a great way to see some great cars and perhaps meet some nearby Bay Area Cobra owners even if our car is not allowed to enter. We are not familiar with Danville so how do we find the address/show when we drive over there this weekend from Petaluma. Do You know the address so I can find a map to the show or is there a web-link for show information somewhere? Can hardly believe I found this post just one day before getting our replica! Has to be part of the Cobra magic I think even if ours is not the "real" thing. Don & Jacquie |
Don,
There will be some continuations around, but 99% of the Cobras will be replicas. I would not worry about it. There will always be some critics that have something to say. Nothing better to do. I always like when someone asks if it is real. DUH! It would be hard to drive around a fake car!!!!!!!!!! My wife and I might take a run up there Sunday to check out the show, but I am not entering my car. There is also the VMOA car show at De Anza College on Stevens Creek Blvd on Saturday. There is always a good turn out for the show. Scott |

We would like to enter ours in some shows if we could. We have been long time Porsche club members and have owned three exceptional 911s over the past 15 years or so. We like going to club events and shows when we can. Now the last Porsche is sold and gone so we have to begin again, with the Cobra community this time. As a driver of high performance cars of several makes since my first Corvette at age 16, (now 62), we are looking forward to it and our Cobra as a new chapter and adventure. Don |
Don - Congrats on the Cobra and welcome to Club Cobra and the Bay Area Cobra Club!

Car Show Jun 22
Hi;
Drive south on 680 from Walnut Creek, or north from San Jose, exit is Sycamore Valley at Danville. Straight into the Danville Livery shopping open air mall with plenty of trees and great parking. Register by calling Auto Affair in Danville a shop at the Livery. You can complete the form on arrival or get it off their website. Factory Five market a kit Cobra, build yourself. Superformance and most others are factory built, add an engine and you are running. Tip: You are best in buying a well known make and with a Ford engine. Best to meet with some of us before buying. Try the Cobra breakfast every Sat in Livermore at the Rock Grill on Portola exit. There will be every type of car club at the Sun Show, and Cobras. I will be pleased to advise you. (Showing at red Ford GT) Show is 10am to 4pm, entries in by 9am. Just enter and have fun meeting many marques of cars and their members. John Place |
There's also the Palo Alto Concours being held at Stanford University for anyone interested:

Mid Summer Wheels and Wine
Donraye - Also keep in mind a Run we have set for July 12th. We will be meeting at Infineon that Saturday morning and heading up to Ledson Winery before a BBQ at DenBeste Motorsports in Windsor. You may find more about this event at: http://www.baccevents.com/ and click on the Mid-Summer Wine and Wheels link. Based on the favorable response we have received thus far, I would expect between two and three dozen cars to attend. Co-pilots are most welcome.

Don,
Lots of drives and shows to attend. I'm planning to attend the DeAnza show on Saturday and just registered yesterday for the "cobra replicas" (first time at this show). They also have a car corral for $20. Looks like at least 5 of us will be there. Should be interesting with mustangs there too. There is also the Northern Cal Kit Car Club show in Sept. Don't worry that it's not a CSX. We have enough discussions about small block vs. big block, 15" vs. 17" wheels, and etc. What's the best cobra? The one you bought. Welcome to the club! |
Hehe...
I should bring mine out there as cannon fodder. If they want to stare and gawk at a blatantly incorrect and horribly bastardized replica, I've got just the ticket for em. :)
|
Donraye;
Welcome to Club Cobra. I am sure you will have a blast with your new "toy"...as Scotter mentioned, I agree that about 99% of the majority of Cobras seen are replicas...I don't have any problems with that. Fact of the matter is that this is a hobby, and so no matter what you have, as long as you enjoy it and others also enjoy being around these puppies, that is what counts. Critics can be damned... Unfortunately, I will not be attending the show in Danville, since I will be participating at the Palo Alto Concours same time on Sunday...will try to hit the De Anza Mustang event on Saturday, since I understand there were be several Cobras there. George |
Thanks to all of you for your ideas, advice, and links, etc. The car arrives tomorrow (Thurs.) and I and the car will be at the show in Danville on Sunday.
It turns out that they said there were not enough Cobras in the show at the time I spoke to them today so they were eager to have me show the car there. Maybe I'll get to meet some of you at the show. That would be great. So please come over and introduce yourselves when you see the "Grabber Orange" snake out there on Sunday. Warmest regards, Don & wife Jacquie |
Car Show Registration
You can register at the Danville Livery at Auto Affair shop there before 9am on June 22.
John |
Hi John et al, Unfortunately it turns out that I won't be able to put my car in the Danville show as planned. The insurance folks have not gotten the new policy papers back to me yet and that delay has prevented me from getting the registration completed before the weekend. With no insurance and no registration I obviously will not be taking the car to Danville (or anywhere else) until it all gets fininshed next week some time. Oh well, I'll be ready in time for some other event when it comes up soon, and "they" say patience is a virtue (never been one of my strong points however!).
On another more serious note for me: Can anyone out there please recommend any shops in the North Bay/Sonoma County area to get good work done on my Cobra? I want to make some interior changes to better reflect my personal taste and I also have some new goodies I'd like to get installed as wll as some other mechanical items to have checked out. I need a good custom shop (or two) for both interior/upholstery work and for fabrication and mechanical work. I hate the thought of randomly picking a "custom" shop from the yellow pages and then preying I got lucky! Any one with any tips on where to take Cobras in the Santa Rosa/Petaluma or nearby North Bay areas PLEASE help me out if you can. Don |
Don,
Even though you don't have the registration (SB100?) or insurance yet :CRY:, you should stop by one of the shows this weekend Vintage Mustang, Danville, Palo Alto, breakfast, and say "Hi!" and get some ideas and meet the group. We can talk shop for hours :3DSMILE: .... bring water. |
Well all, as it turns out my wife and I did go to the show in Danville to see the cars and hopefully get to meet some Cobra owners out there, but there were no owners around that we could find (?)
We styayed around an hour or more mostly hanging out around the two blue and one red Cobra we saw there but no one was attending or watching their cars, and no one we could find to ask knew who owned them or where the owners might be. So we eventually left but had a nice time in spite of the lack of any connection. There must have been a bar there somewhere we did not know about. Don |
