Palo Alto Concours d' Elegance I ran into Gene Giambona at the Palo Alto Concours d' Elegance today. Here's a picture of the vintage fire truck that he rode co-pilot in from San Francisco this morning. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...025_Small_.jpg Lots of great cars. Corvette and Alfa Romeo were the highlighted manufacturers today, so Cobra sightings were in short supply! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...011_Small_.jpg |

Beautiful slabside!! Thanks for the pictures Doug. |
Doug, I stared at that 289 for a long time. Also, Dynamic from Reno was there too. I got to finally sit in the SPF GT40 (MKII) that they brought. |
I like the front license plate brackets on the 289' HOSE CLAMPS!!!! I didnt know so many of you were going, we should have made it a thing. -sooo I will ask now---What are we Planning for MONTEREY HISTORICS, PEBBLE BEACH and the QUAIL!!! |
It is such a hassle to find a room in the Monterey/Carmel area if you want to spend a couple nights down there. I have skipped it the couple of years because of that hassle. The PA Concours is closeby, so it's easy to attend each year. Even though it's $25 to get in now. I'm glad it's going to charity. |

Doug, Did you make it a few years ago? Cobras were the featured cars. I think there were 14 originals there including one of the Daytona Coupes. It is a very nice event. Glad you had a good time. |
It is a sickness for me. ... We go every year, it is a good time and yes it is crowded. But with the credit crisis and oil at $140 per barrel maybe the attendance will slip. You dont have to hit the BIG events, you can stay off to the side and hit the Quail and other events and have a good time. I personally stay completely away from Concorso for that very reason. We rented a place in Carmel valley ranch for the week back in january . We will be flying the antique this year, as my SPF has to await the golden ticket award. My I am working on consigning my stingray with Bonhams for the quail event. (selling Stingray to pay for SPF Parts) Barry and Lance (SPF) say they are going to be there. Could be a fun time......how often do you get to make fun of the vintage ferrari guys>? --Steve |

2008 Featured Marques : 1. PB http://www.octane-magazine.com/news/...announced.html Pebble will be doing Lambo and GM 100th. 2. Monterey Historic Races are celebrating 35 years and they are pulling out all the stops. 3. Bonhams auction at quail will have one of Jim Garners cars from the early American racers series, and L88 Car i believe. === word is Jim may be there too. |
I'll check into something down there. I hate beating my head into the wall. I usually end up at Laguna Seca and roam the pits. Which event stops in downtown Pacific Grove? Is that the Concorso? Right now, I'm trying to sell my mid-year Stingray to buy ??? Mine though isn't Bonhams' quality. A vvery nice driver. I'm not sure $140/barrel will stop the typical attendee. |

 Here's a couple of more pics from the Concours http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...001_Small_.jpg 1938 AC http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...04b_Small_.jpg |

That Jeep is awsome!!... I could use that on my neighbors next time they complain when I take the car to breakfast early Saturday mornings.:D :D:D:eek: |
Doug, It was a nice surprise to see you at the show Sunday! I'm glad you made it.:3DSMILE: I spent some time looking at that jeep too. It was a Ford that had a lot of really neat features. A grease gun was attached to the underside of the hood and the headlights could be flipped over in order to illuminate the engine compartment for servicing. Pretty neat and everything was olive drab...too cool. P.S.The ride to and from the show in the 1937 Fageol went without a hitch. We got plenty of thumbs up and horn honks during the ride on Hwy 101.....Just like a Cobra but we were traveling at a much slower pace. |
That 38 AC is beautiful. Any more picture of it? |
Greg - I might need that Jeep for my neighbors some day. :3DSMILE: My neighbors haven't complained yet, but one stopped by when my car was in Reno and said with a smile "hey, did you get rid of the Cobra?" I smiled back and said no. Naumoff - I didn't take any other pictures. The sun was so bright, I couldn't see the monitor to line up the picture...hence the crappy framing job. :) Gene - Good seeing you at the show as well. That Fageol fire truck was a trip! You mentioned that it was built in Oakland, CA and was actively used by the SF fire department. What's the cruising speed on that baby? |
We were cruising between 50 to 55 mph and even had to pass a car that was going too slow!!!!:JEKYLHYDE Stopping the firetruck was the biggest challenge. |
