Florida Registration

What a difference a coast makes.

Walked into the Florida tag office on Friday with my California title, VIN verification document, and proof of Florida insurance. Walked out 15 minutes later with my "Antique" designation Florida plate and my "1965 Ford" registration. :)

Had to make a prior 10 minute stop to get the VIN verification document.

Welcome to Florida

You'll find that life in a Red State is a lot more like the USA used to be.
It's so sad what's happened to California.
You've got to read this piece:

Just in case you didn't hear, FL went BLUE in the last election:

Please don't feel sad about California, we're doing OK. :)

Hey Scott,

There's plenty of fun to be had here, for sure. It may be the best place on the planet to be a newly-single, middle-aged man.

Driving-wise, it's not so much fun. I learned quickly that you really have to keep all your antenna up all the time, or else. To that point, I almost had my new beemer taken out (again) just a few hours ago by some nitwit in an old Datsun who ran a stop sign like it wasn't even there. Don't know how I got around him. I've had more than a few near misses with the SPF. It's amazing how badly so many people here drive. There are major accidents on the highways basically all the time.

All things considered, my guess is that I'll spend a few years here getting this business up to speed, then bring someone in to run it and move back to Norcal.

I'm so embarassed!

You're right.....I'm wiping the egg off my face as I type. But you can't be serious that California (a place I love to visit regularly) is doing OK????

Chuck,

I still think we have the worst drivers in the world in Santa Cruz. They blow through a stop sign and give you the peace sign...which I see as being flipped off.

The good news is that you're near the ocean....you can't beat that. BTW - New Beemer...is it yellow? :D

Very serious.

"Always look on the bright side of life."

The SF Bay Area is one of many great places to live in the US.

RodKnock,

I agree. I spent allot of time in Bay area in the 90's. What a great place! I would pack up and move in a heartbeat.

Jacksonville is nice too. Winters are fantastic. Summers...not so much. But we can swim at the beach without a wet suit. I don't recall what water temps where at Half Moon Bay, but it was ball busting cold.

As a lifelong Northern California resident, I'm a biased fan of the SF and Monterey Bay area. Gotta agree with you regarding the water temps though. I've lived near the Monterey Bay for 21 years and have probably gone in the ocean twice. :JEKYLHYDE SoCal, Hawaii, Mexico...I can swim for hours. :D
